Synopsis

On Cybertron, Shockwave finally manages to contact Megatron. He explains that their supply of energon cubes is dangerously low, but their intergalactic transport system is almost complete. The Decepticons attack a power station and despite the Autobots trying to stop them, they leave with several energon cubes. The Decepticons then go to a place where their new space bridge has been setup -a way of being able to instantly get from Earth to Cybertron. A test vehicle is sent over the space bridge, but it fails to arrive at its destination. Realizing a pilot for the vehicle is needed, Megatron asks for a volunteer. But they then see Bumblebee and Spike spying on them.

They capture the two and intend to send them over the space bridge, but Bumblebee smashes out of the vehicle and escapes with Spike. Soundwave releases Ravage, who gets between Bumblebee and Spike. Spike tells Bumblebee to go, so he does, but he gets chased down by Starscream and Skywarp. Starscream eventually shoots Bumblebee with a null ray blast, and Megatron then alters some of his memories.

Bumblebee goes back to Autobot HQ and tells everyone what happened. He says the space bridge is in a cave, so the Autobots go to check it out. But when they go into the cave, the Decepticons launch a surprise attack and trap the Autobots inside it. Ratchet finds out that Bumblebee's memories have been altered and repairs him, and the Autobots then blast their way out of the cave. Meanwhile, the space bridge has opened again, and Megatron now intends to send Spike over it along with some energon cubes.

The Autobots arrive and save Spike, who jumps out of the vehicle. The vehicle crashes and the energon cubes inside it spill out, so Megatron tries to get them, determined to send them to Cybertron. The Autobots fire at him and cause him to fall into the space bridge, which activates and transports him away. Starscream declares Megatron dead, so he's the leader of the Decepticons now. The Decepticons retreat, as the Autobots celebrate Megatron's demise, although Optimus isn't so sure Megatron is really dead. On Cybertron, Megatron has survived his trip and tells Shockwave that the Autobots haven't seen the last of him -he shall be avenged!

-At the end of the previous episode, the Autobots were having their ship repaired and were going back to Cybertron. But suddenly that's not happening any more, and goes completely unmentioned in this episode and onwards. Some fans claim that they remember the first three episodes airing separately as a mini-series before the rest of the first season aired, which may explain why a happy ending was put in place in case The Transformers wasn't picked up for a full season. However other fans claim this isn't the case and they may be misremembering. Either way, the Autobots are staying on Earth for now.

-Cliffjumper's toy didn't come with a gun. So the gun he uses at the start of this episode is based on Jazz's instead.

-It seems that Shockwave has been trying to contact Megatron frequently for 4 million years. That's dedication! Maybe 4 million Earth years is like two months to Transformers. But then again, Megatron gets irritated when Shockwave tells him the space bridge won't be back for 3,000 "astro seconds" so who knows.

-Shockwave had two hands when he first appeared. But in this episode and onwards, his left hand is now a laser cannon (which is accurate to his toy).

Errors

-Ed starts off as a black guy. Then during the next shot, he's a white guy. He's a black guy again when Soundwave transforms.
-Teletraan 1 has a few typos during this shot -SOLAR is spelt "SOLOR", POWER is "POWE" and CURRENT is "PURRENT".
-When Optimus says "Megatron lives" a sky background is seen, but he's meant to be inside the Autobot HQ.
-When Megatron and Starscream start shooting at Bumblebee, Starscream's legs are colored black.
-Megatron's cannon is colored gray instead of black during this shot.
-During the cave battle scene, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker suddenly show up near the end. They don't have any dialogue and disappear again when the Autobots go to the space bridge.
-Megatron's face is colored black instead of gray during this shot.
-Megatron's eyes are colored blue instead of red during this shot.
