Synopsis
The Decepticons attack a research lab, and steal some electro-cells that Megatron intends to use to destroy the Autobots. They blow up the lab and leave. At Autobot HQ, Cliffjumper reports that he's found where the electro-cells have been taken -to a place where Mirage claimed to have patrolled yesterday! Mirage claims he came across no Decepticons, but Optimus Prime tells the Autobots to roll out. They go to where the Decepticons are and a battle begins. During the fight, Mirage rips off one of Skywarp's Decepticon insignias. Things get worse for the Autobots when the Insecticons show up.
The machine being used to convert the electro-cells into energon cubes gets damaged, forcing Megatron to put out some fires. The Autobots retreat, and as Mirage is being repaired, Cliffjumper says they would have gotten the electro-cells back yesterday if Mirage had reported them in the first place! Mirage again says he didn't see them yesterday. Cliffjumper still doubts him. Mirage later goes to the Insecticon's base by himself, where he sees they are complaining about Megatron giving them just two energon cubes for their help. Mirage turns invisible and steals the cubes, then leaves Skywarp's Decepticon insignia behind.
He drops the cubes off where the Decepticons are, but is seen by Cliffjumper. Cliffjumper is about to shoot Mirage, but then the Insecticons arrive, furious that the Decepticons stole their energon cubes. A battle begins between the Insecticons and Decepticons, but as Mirage tries to escape, he gets hit. Bombshell hits him with one of his cerebro shells, turning him into a slave of the Insecticons. Cliffjumper gets back to the Autobot HQ and reports on what he saw. He, Optimus and Ratchet roll back out.
Megatron confronts Bombshell, and the two realize they were duped into fighting each other by Mirage. Bombshell is about to destroy Mirage, but Megatron stops him, saying they can use him against the Autobots. Mirage is sent to meet with Prime's group, and leads them back to the place where the electro-cells are being used. The Decepticons ambush the Autobots, and Mirage, still under Bombshell's influence, starts firing at his own friends. An angry Cliffjumper punches Mirage down, but Ratchet finds and removes the shell. Mirage turns back to normal, and Cliffjumper realizes he was never a traitor.
The Autobots confront Megatron, but Megatron decides that if he can't have the electro-cells, no one can. He fires on the machines and blows it up, destroying all of the electro-cells in the process. The Autobots return to HQ, where Optimus explains to the electro-cell scientists about what happened. Meanwhile, Mirage is being repaired again, but Cliffjumper tells him to move over -he has a hole in his head that needs repairing too!
