Synopsis

Sparkplug creates a new robot out of spare parts, called Autobot X. When activated, Autobot X goes berserk, attacking the base and the Autobots inside it. The Autobots eventually take it down, then have to go to a rocket base which is under attack by the Decepticons. During the battle, the rockets are destroyed, and the Decepticons retreat. As they leave, Soundwave fires at Bumblebee, causing him to crash and heavily injuring Spike.

Bumblebee is repaired, but Spike's condition is so bad that the doctors want a way to transfer his mind out of his body whilst they work on him. Sparkplug thinks there is a way: transfer Spike's mind into Autobot X. Spike is taken back to Autobot HQ, and Wheeljack says with his cybernetic attachments, he'll transfer Spike's mind into Autobot X. The process is completed, but Autobot Spike goes on a rampage, eventually being shot down by Optimus. Autobot Spike manages to control himself, so most of the Autobots go back to the rocket base to repair the rockets. Autobot Spike watches Frankenstein, which makes him think he's a monster. He loses control of himself again and blasts out of the base.

Having learnt of Spike's situation, Megatron goes to meet with him and convinces him to join forces. Bumblebee sees their meeting, and goes to the rocket base. There, the Autobots have repaired the rockets, which take off successfully. Bumblebee tells Optimus about what happened with Autobot Spike, so the Autobots go back. They find Autobot Spike, who starts firing at them and also wields Megatron.

However, Sparkplug then arrives, and Autobot Spike fires at him. He has to quickly save his own father from falling to his death, but gets himself under control in doing so. He uses Megatron's power against the Decepticons, so Megatron transforms back to robot mode and orders a retreat. The Autobots return to their base, where the mind transfer is done again, successfully transferring Spike's mind back to his original body. Bumblebee wonders what it would be like for a robot mind to be transferred into a human?

Notes

-The second season has new intro and credits sequences. The intro for the second season is my favorite one for the series, and shows off several new characters that won't be seen for several episodes yet, such as Blitzwing, Omega Supreme and Astrotrain. The credits sequence also shows clips from episodes yet to come, again showing off new characters who've yet to be seen. However I've read that when season 2 originally aired, some of the earlier episodes still used the first season's intro.

-This episode marks the last time Reflector speaks. Due to issues with the Reflector toy, Hasbro asked the show's writers not to use Reflector, but more on that later.

Errors

-Optimus Prime's trailer is missing the Autobot symbol during this shot.
-Soundwave's eyes are colored gray instead of red during this shot.
-Three Thundercrackers are shown during the Decepticon's battle with Autobot Spike.
-Megatron's cannon is colored gray instead of black during this shot.
-Skywarp's laser overlaps Starscream during this shot.
-Then, when Megatron lands and tells the Decepticons they've been betrayed, Soundwave is colored like Skywarp.
