Kisumi Natsuki is practicing some moves when captain Yanagisawa walks in. He gives her some tips on her technique, and she resumes practicing.
Kisumi Natsuki
VS
Takaoka Rina
At the school's karate club, Natsuki knocks down her sparring partner. She asks everyone else to come on, and tells them not to hold back just because she's a woman. They quickly make up some silly excuses about being allergic to women!
Yanagisawa says he'll practice with her, and the two begin. She tries hitting him with two kicks and punches, but he blocks everything she throws at him. He then hits her with a kick, which she blocks, but she still gets knocked back.
Nearby, Hondou says everyday it's karate and more karate -why it is so much fun for such a buxom high school girl like Natsuki? The others guess she's probably having fun because she's good at it, but Hondou thinks she's wasting her time. Meanwhile, Natsuki and Yanagisawa come close to hitting each other, but stop their attacks short.
Hondou says that looked like some kind of TV martial arts. Later on, Natsuki's morning training has made her late for class again. She runs into the classroom, where her teacher correctly guesses the reason why she's late. She asks for mercy from the judge.
He tells her it can't be helped. As she sits down, the teacher introduces everyone to their new classmate: Takaoka Rina. She's from the Jotoh Academy, which is famous for martial arts, so she's sure many clubs will want to recruit her. Rina takes her seat, which is the one next to Natsuki's. Natsuki tries being nice, but Rina gives her the cold shoulder.
Rina instead looks out the window. As the day goes on, she goes to stare out of another window when Hondou appears. He welcomes her and introduces himself, but she pushes away from him. He says it must be fate that they're in the same class, and thinks they'll get along well.
He decides to show her around, and leads her to the lab. He thinks she should make their first meeting something to remember, but she remains quiet. He thinks to himself that girls like to be quiet in situations like this. But she suddenly ducks and gets him in a hold.
She tells him that his dirty thoughts are so obvious, they suck -and he's a dumb womanizer. He tries to kick her, but she avoids it. He tells her it seems she doesn't know how to get along with a handsome guy, but she just wonders if the word "handsome" is a synonym for "ugly" around here. He tells her she's the first girl who's ever made him this angry, but he'll teach her what manhood means!
Seconds later, Hondou gets sent crashing through the door to the lab. Rina asks Mr. Handsome guy what's wrong, he should hurry up and teach her what this "man-something" is. Hondou suddenly claims it was just a joke.
Rina heads to the school's roof. She looks at her bike's key, which makes her think back. She thinks about someone called Keiji, who was fixing up his bike. She told him he'd been at it for an hour, but he claimed he couldn't let her ride on the back of a poorly maintained bike.
Her thoughts are interrupted when Natsuki suddenly appears, calling out her name. Rina ignores her and attempts to smoke a cigarette, so Natsuki tickles her to maker her stop. She thinks Rina had better quit smoking, but Rina tells her to shut up -it's none of her business! Natsuki says it is, as if you smoke, your physical strength gets weaker, and it stunts your growth. Rina says it's her choice, but Natsuki says she'll ruin herself, and she can tell that she's really strong.
They quickly devolve into throwing insults at each other until they finally stop. Later on, the school day ends, so Rina heads back to her bike.
Natsuki asks if they can go home together. Rina thinks she's getting too familiar, and doesn't want her following. Natsuki thinks Rina's bike is awesome, but Rina tells her to just shut up and not touch it.
Suddenly, out of nowhere jump in several mask-wearing guys. Rina immediately takes down one by elbowing him in the face, then throws another to the floor.
Natsuki wants to know who these guys are, but Rina says it's none of her business. The mask guys calls Rina a traitor against the committee, and if she resists, they'll break more than just one leg. Rina thinks that's funny, as with their abilities, how can they beat her? As the mask guys close in, Rina is surprised to see that Natsuki is still here. Natsuki tells her she can't just run away and leave her here alone. Rina thinks to herself that if she was alone, she could handle these guys easily. But she wonders if she can fight whilst covering Natsuki.
Natsuki is thinking about how many there are: 11. She thinks she'll let Rina handle 5 of them, whilst the rest will be hers. Rina backs up and tells her to stay close no matter what, just as the masked guys attack. Rina takes down one, but then sees Natsuki beating down two.
She tells Natsuki she's pretty good, then resumes fighting. One of the masked guys arms himself with claws, and runs towards Rina. Natsuki trips him before he can get to her.
He tells her to stay out of his way, and attacks her. She dodges it, but his claw rips her uniform. Not happy about this, she hits him with a kick that sends him crashing into the bike.
The bike falls over, getting damaged. When Rina sees this, she takes all her anger out on the guy, doing a suplex on him first. She then gets him into an arm lock, and starts thinking about the bike...
She recalls being in a fight with Keiji, and having him in a leg lock. She ended up snapping his leg, and she didn't understand why he didn't give up.
Back in the present, Rina says Keiji tried to show his bravery. Natsuki says that's enough, as martial arts aren't supposed to be used in this way. Rina tells her not to give orders. She asks why she fights, and why every time you fight, you lose someone important? She starts to cry, saying that she's lost everything, and asks why she has to keep fighting.
Meanwhile, the committee at Jotoh Academy have found out that Takaoka got away. One guy says they underestimated her a little, but Himuro thinks they chosen the wrong hit men. Tetsuo Daigou then gets up and asks to be given this case. Himuro says that might be interesting. Daigou says to him, Takaoka is nothing but a little baby, and it'd be like a frog against a snake. He's like the moon -far beyond her reach!
Natsuki calls Yanagisawa, and says she has something to ask about Rina. Yanagisawa says that Rina was strong enough in wrestling to get a scholarship. But she injured her boyfriend, who was the captain of the club. Because of that incident, her boyfriend left Jotoh Academy, whilst Rina gave up wrestling. Elsewhere, Rina spends the night waiting on her bike.
The next day, Yanagisawa warns Natsuki not to fight with Rina. Rina's style, known as catch-as-catch-can, is an old style of wrestling, which allows joint locks. Natsuki asks if he thinks she'd lose to something like that, but he tells her she doesn't have the power. Rina would know how to dodge her kick, and she doesn't have the power to escape from a lying-down hold -there's no way she could win. Hondou suggests he and Natsuki practice lying-down holds tonight. He's already fought with Rina, so he could teach her things.
Natsuki hits him so hard he hits a wall, and then walks off. She later finds Rina on the roof again, and suggests she joins the wrestling club. Rina refuses, and Natsuki asks her why -is she going to waste what she's accomplished? Rina asks what's so fun about hurting each other?
Natsuki tells her not to give up, and she should keep going. She doesn't mean for her to hurt someone, but she could use sports to forget about her sorrows and concerns. Sparkling sweat, gaining power, and growing friendship... it's also good for your health and a cure for constipation, too -sports are the greatest! She thinks how nice it is to be young, but Rina tells her how nice it is that her head is so empty!
As Natsuki chases Rina back into the school, Rina tells her she really is just a little girl. She then sees Mr. Handsome guy, and shoves him out of the way. Natsuki tells him sorry about that.
Later on, Natsuki is washing everyone's karate gis. Rina thinks that's supposed to be freshmen work, but Natsuki says not in their club -they decide the order with rock, paper, scissors. Rina thinks her entire club seems to be a bunch of airheads, but Natsuki thinks it's better being easy-going. As Rina leaves, Natsuki suggests they go home together. Rina says she doesn't have time for a little girl, and starts to walk off. Natsuki thinks she must be going to a bike shop, and thinks that once it's fixed, they should have a date. Rina thinks if she hangs around with her, she'll also become an airhead... but she guesses that wouldn't be too bad.
Nearby, Daigou has trashed Rina's bike by hitting it with a pipe. He laughs at what he's done. Back at the school, Natsuki sees storm clouds above, and realizes it's going to rain. She takes the washing back inside.
Rina gets to her bike, devastated at what's happened to it. She also sees a note on it from Natsuki, telling her that she's insolent, and she doesn't like that -she'll fight her. Back at the school, Natsuki and one of her other friends are about to go home, and see the rain.
Rina runs in, and asks Natsuki if this is the way she treats her friends. The two square off in the place the karate club meet, and Rina says her bike is more important to her than her life. If Natsuki is so eager to fight her, then she accepts her challenge, and she'll break every bone in her body!
The fight begins, and Rina does a kick which Natsuki blocks. Natsuki goes for a punch, but Rina dodges around it, and then grabs Natsuki from behind.
She tries to throw her, but as they fall backwards, Natsuki frees herself from Rina's grip, and she ends up hitting the ground herself. Natsuki uses a couple of kicks...
...only for Rina to grab her leg, and slam her to the ground. She then gets her in a leg lock, but Natsuki repeatedly kicks Rina's shoulder with her other leg, forcing her to let go. Outside, Natsuki's friends are watching, and one of them asks Yanagisawa to stop them.
Yanagisawa thinks that Natsuki hit Rina's weak spot, so she managed to escape. But once Natsuki gets grappled tightly, it's all over. Natsuki and Rina lock hands, but Rina eventually manages to tackle her opponent. She goes for an arm lock, but Natsuki gets out of it by punching with her other arm.
Natsuki gets up and does a kick, which Rina stops. Natsuki hits her with other leg, knocking her back. Rina thinks her technique isn't working, but as she dodges another of Natsuki's kicks, she manages to tackle her again. She tries to get her in another arm lock, thinking that if she can just do this a little more, she can win! She suddenly remembers what Natsuki said earlier, about this being fun.
She thinks back to her fights with Keiji. Back in the present, she suddenly releases Natsuki from her hold.
Daigou then walks in, and says it was so close to being a double knockout. Natsuki thinks he's despicable, but he just says he was using his head, as fair play is kind of out of fashion these days. Rina thinks he must be ready to pay for his mistake.
Daigou tells her not to be overconfident just because she beat Keiji. The only reason she won is because they educated him before the fight! Keiji was confronted by some other guys, and then Himuro walked into the room.
He said he'd relied on Keiji in the past, and Keiji told him they're not pieces in his game. Himuro said it was too bad, as he didn't want to lose both him and Rina. Keiji asked him to leave Rina alone. The fight between him and Rina was then about to start, but he'd been told not to give up.
Back in the present, Rina says she'll punish him for what happened to Keiji. Daigou says he knows her technique, and they charge towards each other. But Daigou is quickly on the receiving end of several hits to the face.
As he falls, Rina's bike key falls out, distracting her. Daigou kicks her and then says that play time is over, so she should prepare to die. Rina tells Natsuki not to interfere, as she's going to defeat him!
Daigou picks her up and asks who is she going to defeat?! To defeat him, she'll need 100 years of training! He goes to punch her, but she grabs his arm, and then throws him towards Natsuki. Natsuki does a kick...
...and Daigou is defeated. Rina thinks that Natsuki is a little meddler...
Rina: Kandori, I won't let you touch Natsuki!
Natsuki: This is the first time I've really felt hatred.
Akira: Being hated means I'm strong, and anger is the source of power.
Satake: Jealousy. Akira is still...
Himuro: Kandori is not the only one we have.
Natsuki: Technique should be used to save life, not to kill. Kandori, why don't you understand this?
