Nightwolf informs the team that the new rip is located in Tibet. Rayden believes that if there is a hidden portal there, they must stop Scorpion from taking it. The reason Earth is such a prize is because of these hidden portals, something most of the other realms don't have. As the team head out in their jets, Sub-Zero explains to Stryker that Scorpion is a walking dead. He was killed by his enemy and his spirit rose, seeking refuse in the realm of the honored dead. His spirit was instead banished to the realm of lost souls, but Scorpion refused to die, vowing revenge. The team arrive in Tibet and are attacked by Scorpion's skeleton army.

Scorpion uses his own powers to resurrect the dishonored dead, who join his army. He has them follow him through the portal, which takes them to parts unknown. As the rest of the team get to the portal, Rayden appears and believes Scorpion has got to Outworld. He tells the team they need to get Scorpion and his new followers into the portal, so he can transport them all back to the realm of lost souls. The team head through the portal and arrive in Outworld, which is Kitana's home realm. The team worry that Shao Kahn may try to attack them, as Kitana is the rightful heir to this realm. Kitana leads them to the place where she thinks Scorpion will be: a place where the dishonored dead are buried.

They enter and are attacked by more of Scorpion's skeleton soldiers. Most of the team fight off these, whilst Kitana, Sub-Zero and Liu Kang go after Scorpion. They find him at a hidden temple, which he is climbing up. Scorpion intends to take Shang Tsung's soul. Sub-Zero tries to fight him, but is defeated. Liu Kang then challenges Scorpion to Mortal Kombat. Liu initially struggles to fight Scorpion, who keeps teleporting around him, but after some advice from Sub-Zero, he is able to locate where he is.

Liu defeats Scorpion with a flying kick. Sub-Zero is going to finish him off, but Liu convinces him not to. Rayden then appears and says that Scorpion has just bought a one-way ticket to the realm of lost souls. Sub-Zero hits Scorpion with an icy blast, pushing him into a hidden portal behind the shrine which transports him and all his undead followers to the other realm. The rest of the team arrive at the shrine, but Nightwolf then contacts them and says another rip is starting. Rayden says that Mortal Kombat continues...

Notes

-SCRIPT DIFFERENCES: Click here for details.

-Originally, the first two episodes of the show were meant to be one episode, as per the script available in the writer's guide. As mentioned in the script differences, the plot was altered to split the story into two episodes, with some new scenes added. One change is that Scorpion was meant to have an army of ninjas under his command, but this was changed to him getting skeleton warriors and then the undead.

-When Sonya and Jax's jet explodes, a fiery dragon is seen coming out of the flames. What this is exactly never gets brought up.

-When Sonya, Jax and Stryker start fighting the skeleton warriors in the cave, the song "Deeper Down" by Sister Machine Gun plays. A little later on, Psykosonik's "It has Begun" track plays. This is the only episode to feature these tracks.

-For some reason, this episode is not on any of the UK DVD sets. My theory is it was omitted due to licensing issues with the music mentioned above.

Errors

-Liu's bandanna is missing during this shot, but it does magically appear when he turns his head as Stryker starts talking.
-Kitana's sleeve is colored light blue instead of black during this shot.
-When Liu and Kitana land their jet, they've somehow swapped seats -earlier on, Kitana was at the front, but when they get out, she's at the back.
-Scorpion's eyes are colored black instead of white during this shot.
-The above error happens again when he arrives at the portal.
-When the group arrive at the temple, Kitana's upper thighs are colored black, whilst Sub-Zero's hands are colored blue.
-When Scorpion starts pulling his chain, his face goes almost completely yellow for a few frames.
-Does it really make sense for a jet engine sound to be heard when Scorpion falls into the realm of lost souls?
