Synopsis
Out in the desert, a Speedwagon Foundation helicopter lands near to Jotaro's group. Joseph says they are getting a new ally, but it's not your usual Stand user: it's Iggy, a dog! Iggy has a personality problem, and he takes an immediate dislike to Polnareff. Polnareff tries to attack with Silver Chariot, but Iggy summons his own Stand, the Fool, and is able to defend himself.
Joseph finds out from one of the pilots that Holy will only last for another two weeks. The helicopter leaves, whilst Jotaro's group head out via truck. But they soon see some smoke in the distance, and when they investigate, they find that the helicopter has crashed. Jotaro finds one of the pilots, but is surprised when lots of water comes out of him -somehow, he drowned in the desert!
The group find the other pilot, but he starts screaming about the water attacking. A hand made of water comes out of Joseph's canteen, which rips the pilot's head off. The group realize there must be a Stand user nearby, but they can't see where he is.
The water hand appears in front of Kakyoin, and injures his eyes. It's about to attack Polnareff when it gets distracted by the dead pilot's watch, which starts beeping. Realizing that the Stand attacks based on sound, the group retreat to their truck and withdraw, trying to put some distance between themselves and the enemy Stand user. But Iggy then suddenly leaps out of the truck.
The Stand manages to get onto the truck and starts attacking Polnareff. Avdol manages to make it back off by using his Stand's red bind attack, but it then bursts out of the front of the truck via the water in the radiator. It grazes Joseph, causing him to crash the truck.
Iggy sees what has happened, but decides to take a nap. The Stand user, N'Doul, says he knows where the group all landed, so now he'll take them out one by one. Jotaro thinks this Stand isn't an easy one to deal with, but this is getting really interesting.
-The pre-title card sequence largely adapts part of the first chapter of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood. In the manga, the sacrifice is wearing a dress, whilst she's topless in the episode.
-The vehicle Jotaro's group has has a completely different design in the manga. It doesn't have a trailer, whilst the one in the episode does.
-When first seen, N'Doul is much closer to Jotaro's group in the manga than he is in the episode.
-In the manga, after the pilot tells Joseph about Holy's condition, he also says the Speedwagon Foundation has become aware of nine men and women meeting with Dio, and believes them to be Stand users. The group worry they have only have two weeks to face nine more Stand users. In the episode, the pilot only mention's Holy's condition, and doesn't talk about the other Stand users.
-When N'Doul walks off, the manga has him try to catch a fly with his fingers, but miss. He knows it was the same type of fly that let Jotaro find out where Dio was, so he hits a rock at it with his stick. This part isn't in the episode.
-Jotaro is the one who first notices the downed helicopter in the episode, whilst in the manga, it's Joseph who sees it first.
-In the manga, Polnareff passes Joseph the water canteen, whilst in the episode, it's Avdol who does this.
-In the manga, Jotaro uses a pair of binoculars to search for the Stand user. In the episode, he uses Star Platinum's vision instead.
-Polnareff does not give Kakyoin the finger in the manga.
-In the manga, Polnareff and Kakyoin seem to just land in the car. In the episode, a shot of Star Platinum catching both of them was added.
-N'Doul uses his Stand to get the car to sink in the manga. In the episode, this was changed so he tries to attack Polnareff first, and then uses his Stand to destroy the car's engine, leading to Joseph crashing it.
-The crates that are shown dropping out of the car in the episode are not present in the manga.
-The episode ends with Jotaro thinking this is going to be interesting. This dialogue isn't in the manga.
-Whilst this is chronologically the 8th episode, it was the 1st one to be released. This episode and the next five were all released in the 1990s, whilst the first seven episodes were all released in the 2000s. As a result, the animation styles are wildly different between the two sets of episodes.
-There are a few times in this episode where it does things like having characters appear in separate frames. These kind of techniques won't be seen in future episodes.
