On Jaar, the Destrons see on the radar that two objects are closing in on the planet. The Destron Headmasters head outside to take a look, and sure enough, two planes approach the base. But as the jets get close, they transform and land. One of the planes has become a gorilla, whilst the other is now a dragon.
The Destron Headmasters start to fight with these new enemies, but get pummeled and forced back. Before they can continue to fight, Galvatron appears, asking them if they cannot tell friend from foe.
Weirdwolf and the others then see that the two new arrivals have Destron insignias on their bodies. Galvatron says that these two are the latest Destron recruits: the Horrortrons! The gorilla transforms into a robot called Apeface, whilst the dragon transforms into a robot called Snapdragon. The Horrortrons are not only triple changers, but they are also Headmasters. Weirdwolf then remembers that they have met the Horrortrons before, as they were exiled from planet Master a long time a go.
Nearby, Counterpunch has seen that the Horrortrons have arrived on Jaar, and he secretly reports it to the Cybertrons on Athenia. Chromedome and the other Cybertron Headmasters recognise the Horrortrons, as they used to be friends with them millions of years a go -until they sided with Scorponok. The two of them were banished from planet Master, but Chromedome had later heard rumors the two were roaming around space together. Fortress thinks the Destrons will be planning something, and wonders what Galvatron is going to do next.
Spike then asks Fortress something: he wants to negotiate with Galvatron. Everyone is surprised at this, but Spike says he is serious. He wants to try and get the Destrons to join in with a joint energy development program with the Cybertrons. Chromedome thinks he must be dreaming as the Destrons would never agree to something like that, but Spike says they won't know unless they try. Brainstorm thinks it is too risky, especially as Spike intends to negotiate with the Destrons himself, but Spike says he has thought long and hard about this and sees it as the only way.
The Destrons destroyed Cybertron and Mars. The Destrons fight for energy, but Spike is worried the entire universe could be destroyed at this rate. The destruction of Mars destabilized the space bridge, and Shouki says that the space bridge would become useless if more planets are destroyed. The balance of the universe has been effected, and Spike says to stop things from getting worse they must work with the Destrons. Fortress decides to let Spike try.
The message is sent, but Daniel is worried about it. Spike says peace does not just happen by itself, he must understand this. On Jaar, Galvatron receives the message, and believes the Cybertrons must be out of their minds. He rips up the message, as Soundblaster asks if they should turn them down. Galvatron tells him to not even bother sending a reply. However Scorponok's voice is then heard, as he tells Galvatron this could be an opportunity.
Scorponok says they could negotiate, but also plan something else at the same time. Galvatron decides to think it over. A little later on, Arcee sees that the Destrons have replied. She takes the message to Spike, and everyone is surprised to see that the Destrons have agreed to meet with Spike. However there is also one condition: Carly and Daniel are to go with Spike to the place of the meeting. Spike wants just his family to go, and the Cybertrons to stay behind, but Chromedome doesn't think that is a good idea.
He says that Galvatron will have some Destron escorts with him, so he and the other Cybertron Headmasters will go with them on the Trainbots. They won't interfere with the talks, but they will be around just in case. Later on, the Trainbots head to Earth via Athenia's space bridge.
SHANGRI-LA ISLAND
The Cybertrons arrive on Shangri-La Island and wait. Galvatron appears along with the Destron Headmasters and Horrortrons. Galvatron makes a demand straight away: Carly and Daniel are to be held hostage until the talks are over. Chromedome isn't happy with that, but Galvatron tells Spike that if he doesn't like it, they will leave. Spike says he will go along with it, so Carly and Daniel are sent over to the Destrons. Galvatron tells the Cybertron Headmasters not to try anything, or he can't guarantee that Carly and Daniel will live.
Galvatron and Spike enter a building, and the talks begin. But they do not go well, as whilst Spike wants the Cybertrons and Destrons to share the energy they create, Galvatron wants it all for himself. Galvatron also asks why Spike, as an Earthling, is on Athenia all the time. Is that a neutral standpoint? He thinks he should leave Athenia and stay on the Earth. Spike argues that he must continue his scientific research on Athenia, he can't just go back to Earth. Outside, Chromedome thinks something is wrong with this whole deal, as the Destrons replied far too quickly for his liking.
Back inside, Galvatron makes a final offer: the Destrons will do as Spike wants, but only if he leaves behind the most important thing in his world: his son, Daniel. In a show of good faith, he must leave Daniel on the Earth forever, whilst he can stay on Athenia. Galvatron then says they'll take a break now so Spike can have some time to think it over.
Spike goes to the room Carly and Daniel are in, which the Horrortrons are guarding outside. He explains what Galvatron has suggested, and says that if Daniel stays on Earth, the Destrons will stop attacking the planet and will join the joint energy development program. Daniel is reluctant, but says he will stay on the Earth if it means it will be helping everyone else on the planet. Carly says she will stay on Earth with her son.
On Jaar, Counterpunch is very surprised when he sees Galvatron walk into the room! Galvatron says they will soon be going into space, and will find more energy that they will take from other worlds. Counterpunch leaves the room and heads outside. Without being seen, he transforms into Spacepunch and gets into contact with Fortress on Athenia, telling him that the Galvatron on Earth has to be a fake, and was part of a Destron plan to cover their actions. The Destrons intend to head into space and are going to attack the universe.
The Cybertrons at Shangri-La Island are informed of what has happened. Shouki and Yukikaze start a distraction by fighting each other sumo style, and the bored Destron Headmasters watch. This lets the Cybertron Headmasters move out. Galvatron and Spike are negotiating again, and Spike says he will leave his family on Earth. Galvatron says discussion about the joint energy development can now continue, but Chromedome then bursts into the room and says the negotiations are over.
He tells the fake that he can stop acting now and "Galvatron" reveals who he really is: Sixshot!
Sixshot congratulates Chromedome on finding him out, but reminds him that they still have two hostages. But outside, Highbrow has already gotten Carly and Daniel out of the room they had been left in. Chromedome and Spike head outside, and Spike is reunited with his family.
However Sixshot also appears back outside and starts shooting. The Destrons and Cybertrons begin to fight. The Trainbots take on the Cybertron Headmasters, whilst Chromedome battles it out with Sixshot.
Meanwhile the Horrortrons fight Hardhead, Brainstorm and Highbrow, and prove to be very tough opponents. Sixshot throws a smoke bomb at Chromedome, and when the smoke clears, he is gone. On Jaar, the real Galvatron is watching the battle but tells the Horrortrons that their diversionary tactics worked, so they can pull out now.
The two transform to their jet modes and leave, as do the Destron Headmasters. Chromedome and the other Cybertron Headmasters to after them, and see that the Destrons are heading towards their space bridge. Before they can get close to it, Sixshot appears. The space bridge is activated...
...but as the Destrons go through it, Sixshot activates some explosives that destroy it. This explosion causes a chain reaction, which results in the space bridge at Cybertron City also exploding.
The space bridge on Athenia also explodes, leaving the Cybertrons unable to quickly move from Earth to Athenia and vice-versa. On Jaar, Galvatron and many other Destrons are ready to take off in MegaZarak. The huge scorpion takes off and heads into space.
Fortress has gone to Earth and lands near Cybertron City, where a team of Cybertrons is ready. They are going to go after the Destrons. Daniel wants to go with them -he wants to help them maintain peace, and cannot forgive the Destrons for tricking his father. Chromedome and Hardhead think he should come, so Fortress decides he can, along with Wheelie. The selected Cybertrons board Battleship Maximus, which leaves Earth and heads into space. Ultra Magnus is left in charge on Earth.
The battle between the Cybertrons and Destrons moves to outer space. Will the Cybertrons be able to stop the Destrons? What lies in store for Daniel? An almighty clash is about to happen!
NOTES
The animation quality of this episode is better than usual.
Quite why the Destrons blowing their Earth space bridge up causes the Cybertrons to lose their Earth and Athenia space bridges is not explained. A space bridge would have been blown up when Cybertron was destroyed in this episode, but it caused no ill-effects to other space bridges.
This episode is also known as "The Most Important Thing in the World" -just google it and you'll see a lot of results. Nobody seems to know where this alternate title came from.
