Raoh and his army march across a desert. Raoh thinks about Ryuga -a man who has sworn loyalty to him, but why does he wish to fight Kenshiro? He doesn't understand.

In a busy city, Kenshiro is eating an apple and sees some shady characters moving around behind the market stalls below. These guys suddenly attack, and start trashing the stalls whilst gathering up all of the food. Ken jumps down from where he is from...

...and easily stops the thugs, although he only breaks their weapons. He wants to know why they have become thieves and the leader explains: they were forced into it. The leader of the attackers, Jiromu, says that they all come from a nearby village which has been taken over by the jumbo-sized Lord Sabato. In a flashback, Jiromu explains that Sabato came into their village, and ate up all of their food.

But he was displeased when he found out that he's just eaten everything, as he was still hungry. He ordered the village elder to go and steal more food from other villages, but the elder said he couldn't do that. For his reluctance, the elder got fed to the crows. Sabato then pointed at Jiromu and told him to go and steal food from other villages. He also refused, so Sabato grabbed his sister, Mami, and threatened to feed her to the crows if he doesn't do as he's told. He was given until nightfall to get more food, otherwise the girl dies.

Ken tells them that if they steal food from here, Sabato will just make them steal more and more. More until the point that they will become real criminals themselves. He then tells them that instead of stealing, they must fight back, and he will help them. Close by, Ryuga and Garou are watching Ken. Garou wants to know when his master plans to attack Kenshiro, but Ryuga says that it is too soon, and they will continue to observe Ken for now.

It seems like Jiromu and his friends aren't going to make it back, but Sabato tells Mami that she will make a beautiful feast for the crows. One village tries to stop Sabato by charging into him, only for his attack to be absorbed by Sabato's flab, and he is then crushed. Just as the execution is going to begin, a truck arrives in the village and Jiromu says that he has food inside it.

Two hungry guards go in the back of the truck to check, but they are both suddenly pulled in. After some ruckus, they both get launched out and splat straight into Sabato. Kenshiro then steps out of the truck, as Sabato's men charge in towards him.

To most people it looks like he's just walking forward, but as the troops get close, each one is hit and defeated with just one quick strike. Sabato then decides to use his flab to try and crush Kenshiro and he leaps up into the air. He lands and believes to have won, only to then see Ken walk up and kick him in the face.

Jiromu and his team then start their attack and take down what is left of Samato's force. Jiromu unties his sister, whilst Kenshiro is left to deal with Sabato. Sabato tries to charge into him, but Ken knees him in his face.

Sabato reveals that he has a staff weapon, and starts thrusting it forward rapidly. Kenshiro moves quickly enough to avoid all of his strikes, and then gets behind him to hit pressure points on the back of his head. He can't move, but Ken also tells him it has an added terrible effect: Sabato now gives off the scent of blood.

Which of course means the crows get to ravage him for a bit. But if that wasn't enough, Sabato then bulges up and explodes anyway. As night comes, the villagers thank Kenshiro and say that from now on they will fight, and do a better job of protecting themselves.

Ryuga has again seen everything and is wondering about the two potential end of century saviors: Kenshiro and Raoh. The people down in the village seem happy, but whenever he and Raoh went out to conquer lands, the people would seem to live in fear despite the fact that they are protected by Ken-Oh's power. But having seen enough, he believes that the time has come: he must face Kenshiro! Later on he finds Ken walking away from the village and throws down a spear to challenge him, but he doesn't seem interested in fighting. He charges right at him on his horse, but Ken gets out of the way.

Ken wants to know why they must fight, but Ryuga says that it is his destiny as the lone wolf star to face him. No matter what he does, Ryuga cannot seem to get a rise out of Kenshiro, who keeps dodging or blocking all of his attacks.

The two enter a broken down room, and Ryuga keeps trying to fight Kenshiro. Even when he cuts his face and destroys an entire pillar behind him, Kenshiro just won't seem to fight, and just tells him that whilst he has a cold look in his eyes, they haven't lost their shine. Ryuga just laughs and then tries another technique, but Ken gets away from him.

After looking at him for a few seconds, Kenshiro turns away and walks off. Ryuga doesn't stop him, but instead pulls out a small picture of Yuria...his beloved sister!

Ryuga doesn't know which of the "great trees" the world needs. But he asks his little sister to forgive him...he must fight the man she loved!
