"Forgive me, Yuria. I will fight the man you loved. I must do this...it is my destiny as the star of Sirius. Forgive your brother..."

Elsewhere, Raoh is out marching with part of his army, when he notices that the star of Sirius glows red. Does it mean that Ryuga is out for blood, and has stained himself red? Later on that day, at a village, some punks have taken the place over. They are forcing the villagers to construct a well for them.

The thing is, they want the well now, and anyone who gets caught trying to rest gets whipped. But then one of the punks gets killed when someone throws a spear at him: Ryuga, Garou and their army have arrived. Ryuga says that this village now belongs to Ken-Oh, and that anyone who opposes them will die.

Unsurprisingly, the punks do oppose him and charge, only to all fall victim to Ryuga's Taizan Tenrou Ken. Garou and his troops then attack the ones remaining, but then some of the villagers try and escape -they are scared that they will all be killed. Garou gets his troops to capture them, but one manages to escape on a bike.

Stained with blood, Ryuga tells Garou to deal with things here and then leaves the newly captured village. Meanwhile, the single guy who got away has crashed his bike in the desert and is close to death, when he gets what he wants: water, as Kenshiro has found him.

The villagers have been chained, to stop them from escaping. The soldiers tell them that they now belong to Ken-Oh and anyway who tries to resist his rule will die. Kenshiro arrives after the man shows him where the village is, and that it was Ryuga who led the attack. Ken wants to know where the lone wolf is now, but some of the soldiers try to fight him. Two get killed by just one kick.

This gets the attention of the other guards, who are ready to fight Kenshiro, but then Garou tells them all to stand down, as they are no match for him. He then says that he will only reveal Ryuga's location if Kenshiro can beat him in battle. Kenshiro accepts his challenge.

Garou uses a sword in battle, and has mastered a style called Taizan Ryu Zanjin Battojutsu (Taishan Man-Slicing Sword Drawing Technique) which lets him use his weapon very quickly. He has several different stances he goes through as he fights, and comes close to slicing Kenshiro in half. Ken jumps high up into the air to avoid one of his strikes, before crashing into Garou and destroying part of his helmet.

Garou tries one more stance technique, but Ken punches his hand, destroying his fingers. Garou manages to get his sword with his other hand, and stab it into Ken's arm, but it isn't enough as Ken batters him with many punches before shattering his armor. Garou is honorable though and tells Ken where Ryuga is -he has gone towards Toki's village!

Garou says Ryuga mentioned to him about how the world needed a "great tree". Whilst Ryuga may have gone to Toki's village, Garou says that Kenshiro is still his intended target. Garou then explodes, leaving Kenshiro to think about why Ryuga would go to where Toki is. At Toki's village, lots of people have gathered to see him -as whilst he can no longer fight, he can still heal people, and it is all he wants to do now before he dies.

Even though he is still very ill, he tells Bat and Lin to keep sending people in to see him, as he wants to heal them. Near the village, Ryuga has arrived and opens up his picture of Yuria, to ask what she saw in Kenshiro. Believing that kindness is useless in this age, he wants to defeat him!

Back inside, an old man Toki helped before has come back, saying his injured leg is much better now, thanks to him. Toki is glad about that, but then hears something outside and suddenly pushes the old man to the ground, just as an arrow narrowly avoids piercing through his head!

Ryuga enters the room armed with a bow and another arrow, and Toki seems to know who he is already. Ryuga says it has been a while, but he must give him his farewell, and shoots another arrow that hits Toki in his chest.

Bat tries to stop Ryuga, but just gets pushed aside. Lin puts herself between him and Toki, and tells him to stop -Toki cannot fight any more. Ryuga still wants to defeat him though, and decides to move Lin out of his way by killing her!

Toki takes the hit instead, and falls to the ground. Ryuga says he has heard that the true essence of Hokuto Shinken is rage, something it needs to be fully unleashed. He's seen two powerful "great trees" -Kenshiro and Raoh -but only one of them can restore order to the world. If Kenshiro cannot defeat him, then he is worthless. He wants to plunge Kenshiro into the depths of sadness, and to do that, he will kill Toki. Kenshiro has yet to witness true sadness.

Toki says he understands, and tells Ryuga to do it -and he can then bear witness to the new era with his own eyes. Ryuga strikes Toki, and Lin cries out Ken's name.

Not far away, Kenshiro somehow hears Lin's call and wonders if something has happened to Toki. And at another place, Raoh sees a star shoot past the big dipper -he wonders if his little brother has fallen.
