Synopsis
Shachi is standing, and nobody seems to understand why. Kaioh realizes that the statue must be the thing that has saved Shachi from death, but he believes that it doesn't matter. However, Shachi manages to avoid Kaioh's first strike and hits him back, before getting him in a choke hold. As he chokes the life out of him, Shachi tells him he's a fool for not believing in love. The reason he is so strong now is because of his love for Leia. Lin tells Leia that Shachi's feelings for her have somehow merged with the statue, giving him new strength to take Kaioh on. She believes that the message the statue is trying to convey is that of love, and that love is the secret of the North Star clan.
Meanwhile Kaioh refuses to go down like this and finally gets Shachi off of him. He strikes him again, making him fall, but the loud noise starts again, and hr can't stand it. Shachi tells Kaioh the noise is to summon Kenshiro here. Kaioh says that if the statue wants to help Kenshiro, then that's fine -but it won't make a difference. If the North Star divine fist's legacy is love, then the North Star lapis lazuli fist's is evil. In order to let the spirits know that evil rules over love, Kaioh vows to defeat Kenshiro and kill him -and Lin will get to watch it. He takes her and leaves, not bothering to take any further action against Shachi or Leia. As Kaioh rides away with Lin, he tells her that the history of the North Star clan will come to an end once Kenshiro is dead.
Kenshiro arrives a few minutes later, and Shachi tells him that the statue lent him some extra strength to fight Kaioh with. As Kenshiro looks at the statue, it starts to glow. It then crumbles, revealing a large obelisk which has some letters engraved into it. A female voice tells Kenshiro she has been waiting for him, and that he must hit a pressure point on himself to be able to read the letters. Kenshiro does this, and then places his hands on the obelisk. The voice tells him that he will now experience the lifetime of a certain man in an instant.
Kenshiro sees the image of a man, and scenes of misery behind him. The voice tells Kenshiro to cry for the never ending sorrow in human nature. He will now inherit the will of "that man", as lots of spiritual energy is released and taken in by Kenshiro. As everything returns to normal, Shachi asks Ken what he saw in the obelisk. Ken tells him that he viewed the tough life of "that man" -the one who created the North Star divine fist. He now has the North Star clan's secret techniques, and it's all thanks to him. Shachi is pleased, but it's clear he can't survive much longer. He tells Leia that whilst he was fighting, he was always thinking of his dream of creating a new era, he wanted to change the Land of Asura. He says that he lived for her love, and he will also die for it. The obelisk shines again, and Shachi is honored for it do so on him, but he then passes away. Kenshiro says that his love lives on within him and now, there is only one thing left to do: he will find Kaioh and defeat him.
-Shachi dies before Kenshiro arrives at Taiseiden in the manga. He and Leia have a longer conversation, where Shachi mentions that he could not let her die at the hands of the Asuras, with lines not present in the anime.
-In the manga, Kenshiro and Leia see one of the broken arms of the statue pointing in a certain direction -Kenshiro somehow knows that it is pointing in the direction of where Kaioh is. The anime doesn't have this, and in the next episode Black Yaksha tells Kenshiro where Kaioh is.
-Some of the clips used from the previous episode look slightly different in this one, click here for more details.
-The warrior's silhouette Kenshiro sees in his vision resembles Raoh.
-When Kenshiro first looks at the obelisk, his arm bandages are colored black instead of white. This can be seen both times this shot is used.
-During this shot from the next episode preview segment, Kaioh's gloves have fingernails painted on them.
