The first console version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo was released in 1994, for the Panasonic 3DO system. This port was seen as one of the few reasons to bother buying a 3DO console, but given how expensive the console was (almost $700), it still wasn't enough to convince people to pay up. Which is a shame, as this version showed off the 3DO's power quite well -compared to the Nintendo and SEGA ports of previous Street Fighter games, this was quite a step up. The graphics are very close to the arcade version, with large sprites and more animation. However there are some noticeable animation cuts, such as the elephants in Dhalsim's stage not moving at all. A lot of the parallax scrolling was removed on some backgrounds. Some of the larger sprites were also slightly changed, such as Guile's lose portrait.

The music in this version was originally from the FM Towns version of Super Street Fighter II, but there are a few new tracks added for Akuma and the intro. Possibly the greatest thing about this port is the difficulty level -the arcade version was far too hard, thankfully on this port the CPU has been toned down, and is much easier. Sadly this version only has arcade and versus modes -stuff like the time challenge and tournament modes seen in the SNES and Genesis versions of Super SFII are not included in this port. Another downside is this port is missing the old versions of characters -the arcade version let you use the Super SFII versions of the characters via inputting codes, but these codes do not work in this port.

Overall though this is still a good port, and if you own a 3DO then this game is a must have. There is, however, one other downside: the controls. The regular 3DO controller's button placement makes this game very difficult to play that well. There are alternative controllers available that are better for fighting games, but they're quite expensive.
