Prototype
Final
The icon of the factory is different in the prototype.

Prototype
Final
The barrel skeletons have not been implemented yet in the prototype.

Prototype
Final
The skeletons that do appear here in the prototype don't have their hats like they do in the final. Their palettes also corrupt when they jump over the fence.

In the prototype, you cannot jump when walking under the steal beams, but in the final, you can.

Prototype
Final
The background graphics for the inside of the factory were overhauled for the final version. The layout was also completely changed.

The prototype lacks any candles in this stage.

Prototype
In the prototype, the only enemies in this stage are some glitchy crow enemies. When they fly around, their sprites will change to the gem sprites from the HUD. The final version features no crows in this stage.

Prototype
Final
The conveyer belts are glitched in the prototype, as you can't interact with them. They work as intended in the final version.

If you use the patched rom, the prototype conveyer belts will work.

Prototype
Final
The slide doors have a red rim in the prototype, which was changed to white for the final.

This is also the first slide door you encounter in each version -note the different layout.

Prototype
Final
Stage 4-3 actually has candles in it, unlike 4-2, but it has no enemies at all. Again, the layout is completely different -the above screen show where it starts between the prototype and final.

In the prototype, if you jump at the start of this stage, you'll land on an invisible conveyer belt, which is functional. It'll carry you over to where the stairs are.

Prototype
Final
There are some layout similarities between the prototype and final for this stage, such as having to use some conveyer belts to jump across a bottomless pit.

Prototype
Final
Stage 4-4 also has different graphics in the prototype. It lacks any candles, and also has a different layout.

Prototype
Final
The cylinders have green rims and circles in the prototype, the colors were changed to black in the final.

The prototype has you moving downwards here, in the final, you have to move upwards.

The cylinders in the prototype have very glitchy collision. You can fall through them, but sometimes, you can get pushed by them and end up stuck inside them.

Prototype
The prototype's stage 4-5 was cut from the final version. It features platforms over molten lava. The machines which dispense the lava have glitched colors, and the platforms can't be jumped on -you'll fall right through them if you try. Use the patched rom to progress here.

This room is long and repetitive, plus it's really easy, which is possibly why the final version changed it to something else. It also can't be completed -if you get to the end, you can't progress to the next stage, as the ext doesn't work.

Prototype
Final
The prototype has different cog placements, and the colors for them were changed -this is most noticeable with the largest cog. The prototype also has different candle placements and no enemies.

The big cogs have no collision detection in the prototype, so you can't get any further without using the patched rom.

Prototype
Final
The prototype version of this stage also has a different layout. The above roughly shows the same location between versions.

Prototype
Final
In the prototype, parts of these medium-sized cogs keep changing colors as they move. They don't do this in the final version.

Prototype
Final
Another example of layout differences. This shows the same area between versions.

Above this section, the final version of the stage is larger, with more platforms to navigate than what the prototype has.

Prototype
Final
The prototype lacks the candle the final has at the top right of this stage. The candle on the left is in the final version, but it was moved further to the left.

Prototype
Final
Instead, the prototype has two candles to the left here, whilst in the final, there is only one.

Prototype
Final
The next stage is another one which was completely overhauled for the final version. In the prototype, there is a waiting zeppelin in the background, and you have to use platforms and stairs to make your way to the right. In the final, the background was replaced with lots of cogs, and the stage mostly consists of having to jump across a bottomless pit, using platforms which move down when you step on them.

The swinging platform seen in this stage in the prototype has no collision, and cannot be jumped onto unless you use the patched rom.

The prototype has no enemies in this stage, but the final version has some small ghosts.

Prototype
Final
In the prototype, there is one of these platforms seen in the final at the far right of the stage. However, it lacks collision detection, making it impossible to use. This also means you can't complete this stage, because you have to move this platform down to get the door to open. Using the patched rom makes the stage beatable.

The chain has glitched graphics in the prototype, which was fixed for the final.

Final
The prototype lacks the above boss stage.

Prototype
Final
The candle at the start of this stage was moved slightly to the right for the final version. The ground is also higher up in the prototype than it is in the final. The spinning blades here also have different colors, and in the prototype, the safe spots in the blades have a visible circle in them, which were removed from the final.

The blades only take off three points of life in the prototype, whilst in the final version, you lose around half your life bar if you touch them!

Prototype
Final
The prototype lacks any enemies for this stage, whilst in the final, some beetle riders show up. Note the differences in the background cog placement.

Prototype
Final
The second spinning blade you come across moves at a much slower speed in the prototype than it does in the final. This stage also ends here in the prototype -in the final, this stage was expanded, with a third blade to get by.

Prototype
Final
The next stage has glitched graphics in the prototype -the floor sprites are wrong, and the background colors aren't right either. All of these issues were fixed for the final.

The prototype also lacks any candles or enemies in this stage.

Prototype
Final
In the prototype, the placement of some of these cogs is different. The platforms they are meant to be holding display glitched graphics, and the platforms themselves cannot be jumped on, making this stage unbeatable unless you use the patched rom.

And even if you use the patch rom, it's still pretty difficult to get through this section. The platforms you have to use are tiny, and are easy to fall off.

Prototype
Final
The final version adds one extra platform to the end of this stage.

Prototype
Final
The next stage has no enemies or candles in the prototype, and the colors for some of the cogs is different. There are also several platforms in this stage which were removed from the final, preventing you from getting to the top of this room.

Prototype
Final
The boss of this stage, Gear Steamer, is fully working in the prototype. The colors are glitched when it first appears, but they'll correct themselves when it moves.

This boss has no sound effects in the prototype. The final has some for when it attacks or takes damage.

However, once Gear Steamer is defeated in the prototype, the orb won't spawn, making the stage unbeatable.
