Synopsis
As Kurama enters the ring, Kuwabara asks him if he's used the item Suzuki gave him. Kurama says he has, and has already tried it several times before -it needs some time to work, but once it does, he can change to his demon fox form for 15 minutes. Just as the fight is about to start, Botan gets up and leaves after Keiko mentions Genkai. Shizuru goes to check on her, and tells her that Genkai won't be able to rest peacefully if she's brooding about her death. Botan finds out Shizuru knows of Genkai's passing, and Shizuru says that she has been in touch with Genkai for a long time now, and yesterday, she came by to pay her respects. She also said to take care. She didn't say what was happening, but Shizuru is sure Genkai was content about it. Botan says she understands, but also says she can't let it go. Shizuru tells her to let their guys take care of the rest, and if they get done in, she'll go in and kill the Toguro team herself! Botan tells her not to go saying stuff like that, as the two head back into the stadium. Back at the ring, the fight between Kurama and Karasu begins. Karasu asks if Kurama really wants to face him like that, but the truth is Kurama can only buy time until he changes forms. He uses a technique called fuka enbu jin (wind petal waltz configuration) to summon thousands of razor sharp petals...
...but Karasu destroys them all by making them explode. Kurama can't even see how Karasu is doing it, as he seemingly doesn't even need to touch something to make it blow up. Karasu then attacks him and Kurama dodges every strike, only for part of his left arm to explode anyway. Karasu reveals he can create bombs with his own demon energy, and is at such a level that Kurama can't even see them. He then creates another bomb, and throws it at Kurama. There is a massive explosion...
...but out of it a strange demon energy appears, as Yoko Kurama finally makes an appearance. Karasu is not intimidated and sends in many trace eye homing bombs, but Kurama can now see them, and destroys them all with a massive killer plant he summons. The plant then attacks Karasu, forcing him to go on the defensive.
Karasu destroys part of the plant with a grenade he generated, but the plant is far from finished, and another branch of it locks onto him. The Urameshi team believe Kurama will win this fight, but Karasu still has evil powers he is currently hiding. The fight has only just gotten started!
-In the manga, after Keiko and the others cheer on the Urameshi team, Keiko asks Shizuru how they got such good seats, and Shizuru mentions the scalper. This isn't in the anime, because in the previous episode, there was a scene showing them swindling the scalper to get the tickets.
-In the manga, Karasu only attacks once, and it's this attack which causes part of Kurama's arm to explode. In the anime, a lot of extra fighting was added before this happens, with Kurama having to avoid Karasu's numerous punches and swipes. Kurama never uses his rose whip against Karasu in the manga.
-The anime also has Karasu cause part of one of Kurama's legs explode. This doesn't happen in the manga.
-The two bombs Kurama destroys by throwing roses at them doesn't happen in the manga. The two bombs do appear next to Karasu at the end of a chapter of the manga, but are then gone when the next chapter starts.
