Synopsis
As Hiei charges towards Shigure, he thinks back. He survived the fall, and as he grew up, he enjoyed killed other demons, who tried to take his hirui stone. However one day he fought a strong demon who cut his necklace. Hiei and his hirui stone fell off a cliff, but whilst Hiei was able to get back to the demon and kill him, his stone was lost.
Wanting to find the Land of Glaciers and find his missing stone, Hiei found Shigure, and told him he wanted an evil eye. Shigure heard his story, and gave him what he wanted. After the operation, Hiei was going to leave, but Shigure warned him that his power had greatly been reduced, and he should stay here to train with him for now. Hiei decided to stay. Back in the present, the two clash, in a battle that ends in an instant. Hiei is critically injured, whilst Shigure has part of his head sliced off. The fight ends in a draw.
Mukuro tells Hiei that was a magnificent fight, and reveals that he had Hiei's lost stone all along. As Hiei falls, Mukuro is able to look into his past. WIth his new evil eye, Hiei was able to easily find the Land of Glaciers. He found Rui, who informed him that his mother committed suicide, but she also had a daughter: Yukina. Yukina had left their village several years ago, and they didn't know where she was. Hiei left, with a new purpose in life: find his sister.
He traveled to the Human Realm, where he eventually met Yusuke. He also eventually found Yukina, but did not tell her he was her brother. His life went on, but around the time he grew tired of fighting in the Human Realm, the messengers from the Demon Realm came. Yukina gave him a hirui stone, asking him to pass it to her brother, if he finds him. It wasn't the stone he'd been searching for, but after seeing Yukina's expression, he figured it'd do just as well. His objective disappeared, and there was no longer any reason for him to live. He traveled to the Demon Realm, and all there was left for him to do was fight. He started to think about the way he could die.
Back in the present, Mukuro says that of all the consciousness he has touched, his was the most pleasant one so far. Later on, Hiei is placed in a chamber, and is being revived. Mukuro says the hirui stones are so strange, as they seem to have the power to draw out all of one's hatred. But thanks to the stone he had, he was saved. Mukuro removes the bandages around his head, revealing that he's actually a woman. Without that stone, her heart would have been filled with hatred, and fighting would have been her ways of venting it. She removes her clothes and tells Hiei that, as promised, this is who she really is. She tells him to look at her, as she can show him everything. She then tells Hiei to live, as he is not yet strong enough to seek the manner of his death. He must live, and this time, he can touch her consciousness.
-In the manga, Hiei and Shigure's battle ends, and there is then a single, long flashback sequence. In the anime, as Hiei charges towards Shigure, there is a flashback that goes up to Shigure telling Hiei to stay with him to train. There is then a second flashback scene, shown after the outcome of the battle.
-The manga does not have the part where Hiei first meets Shigure, and shows how he got the evil eye. That scene is only in the anime.
-In the manga, there are several chambers that Mukuro stands in front of, and one of them has Shigure in it. In the anime, there is only one chamber, and Shigure isn't seen at all in the final scene.
-In the manga, Mukuro is already naked when she stands in front of Hiei's chamber. In the anime, she removes her clothes after talking about the stone.
