Synopsis

The Destrons attack planet Feminia, but the Cybertrons arrive to save the planet's inhabitants. Victory Saber rescues a boy called Cain, along with his animal compaion, Emusa, but is then seemingly blown away when the planet explodes. The Nine Great Demon Generals -consisting of the Destrons Menasor, Abominus, Devastor, Dinosaurer, Black Zarak, Bruticus, Predaking, King Poseidon and Overlord -gather together and meet with their new Emperor of Destruction, Violengiguar. Violengiguar intends to take control of the universe, and instructs the Destrons to gather the super energy he needs.

76 days later, the Destrons head to Planet Zone, and are seen by the Cybertrons there. A battle begins, but the Destron's super armor makes them invulvernable, and Overlord is able to take an energy source the Cybertrons used to build Zone, called energon Z. The Destrons withdraw, so a team of Cybertrons, along with Cain and Emusa, head after them. They are soon confronted by Black Zarak, who blasts their rocket and traps it in an electric net before leaving. The Jet Team arrive and free the rocket from the net.

Sunrunner uses his radar to locate the Destrons, and the Cybertrons find out that a group of them are heading to Earth. Back on Zone, the Powered Masters -Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber -have found Victory Saber, and arrive on the planet. As Victory Saber undergoes repairs, Dai Atlas tells Holi that the Destrons are going after a powerful energy source called zodiac, which is said to have the power to create a universe. He believes that if the Destrons use energon Z together with the zodiac energy, they could create super energy which would be as powerful as a star. Victory Saber gives him and Sonic Bomber the go ahead, and the two head to Earth. At Earth, the Destrons have already begun tearing the planet apart, looking for the zodiac. A kid called Akira nearly gets stomped on by Predaking, but is saved by Whisper.

The Cybertrons start fighting the Destrons, but their attacks can't damage them. The Powered Masters then arrive, and confront the Destrons. Devastor then appears and drills underground, so Dai Atlas follows him. They both locate the zodiac energy, but Devastor manages to get it. Dai Atlas chases him, but gets stopped by King Poseidon. Devastor passes him the zodiac, and then attempts to kill Dai Atlas.

However, Dai Atlas transforms and drills into the cave, which results in a river of lava washing Devastor away and melting him. King Poseidon heads back up, but gets shot at by Sonic Bomber, and drops the zodiac. Dai Atlas manages to catch it, but Dinosaurer then uses a new attack called the energon Z beam, which knocks Dai Atlas down. Sonic Bomber then takes a hit meant for Dai Atlas.

Dai Atlas holds the zodiac above his head, and asks for the essence of Earth to grant them the power which created the universe! Dinosaurer fires again, but his blast breaks open the zodiac. The power of the zodiac energy results in both Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber getting new "zone mode" transformations. The two transform and use their new weapons to blow away Dinosaurer and King Poseidon, destroying them.

Predaking tries to flee, but is split in half and killed. Later on, Dai Atlas explains that the zodiacs's power originally created the Earth and the galaxy. Akira says his father told him about the zodiac, as his father is a geophysicist. As Cain and the other Cybertrons want to know more about the Earth, Akira says he'll be happy to tell them, as long as they tell him about the universe and Transformers. Emusa suggests that Akira comes and visits them on Zone, so the group take a trip back to their planet. On Zone, a ceremony is held as Victory Saber appoints Dai Atlas as the Cybertron's new Supreme Commander. Dai Atlas swears to himself to protect the universe from the evil Destrons, and to build a beautiful and peaceful paradise in the galaxy, working with his beloved friends.

Notes

-This episode was originally released straight to video, and came packaged with an exlcusive toy: Rabbicrater.

-There have been a few runors about Zone over the years. Some believe it was originally intended to be a full lenth TV series, as with the previous three, but due to the waning interest in Transformers in Japan, it was reduced to this single direct to video episode instead. Another rumor is that more episodes of Zone were animated, but were never released.

-Whilst no more episodes were made, the story would continue in the pages of TV Magazine.

-This episode has never been officially dubbed into English, and for some reason Toei Animation refuse to let anyone outside Japan release it. Some companies have managed to get around this by using poor quality, fansubbed bootlegs on their DVD sets, such as Metrodome's UK set and Madman's Australian set.
