Synopsis
The process to turn some of the Autobots into Headmasters is successful, so they go out and destroy several Hive machines. The Hive notice this, but Zarak decides to wait and see how things develop. The Autobots then go off to where the Decepticons are, where they quickly overwhelm their enemies. The Decepticons are forced to retreat, as the Autobots damage their ship and free their prisoners. On Cybertron, Fastlane and Cloudraker report that they can't find the plasma energy chamber key. Optimus Prime wants some answers, so he and Ultra Magnus head to Vector Sigma. Optimus uses the Matrix to reactive the computer.
Back on Nebulos, the Decepticons are captured by the Hive, but Zarak wants to make a deal with them. Threatening to destroy them if they don't go cooperate, Zarak wants the Decepticons to become Headmasters. Cyclonus agrees, but states the Hive may become Headmasters for the animal Decepticons. He instead suggests that the weapons of the other Decepticons are modified to become transforming weapons. Zarak agrees, and new Decepticon Headmasters and Targetmasters are created. Meanwhile, Optimus merges with Vector Sigma, where he meets Alpha Trion. Alpha Trion explains where the other Autobots are and that all that is happening now was caused by Vector Sigma. He warns Optimus about the dangers of plasma energy -which can totally overload a Transformer, but organic life is unaffected by it. He tells Optimus that the plasma energy key must not be destroyed, no matter what. On Nebulos, the Autobots are about to start repairs on the Decepticon's ship, but then see a damaged Cerebros fall down a cliff. Cerebros explains that he found a city, which the Nebulons believe may have been the lost city of the Hive.
The Decepticons then attack, and with their new Targetmaster weapons, easily defeat the Autobots. They manage to take the plasma energy key from Brainstorm, and then retreat, but not before Brainstorm is able to scan one of the Targetmasters. The Autobots then create their own Targetmasters, shortly before Optimus arrives on the planet. The new Autobot Targetmasters introduce themselves, and then all of the Autobots head off to chase down the Decepticons. Another battle begins.
Arcee manages to take the plasma energy key from Scourge, as the Autobots surround her and Optimus. Kup says the Decepticons won't get the key back this time, but then Zarak calls out, saying he's wrong. Everything begins to rumble, as a massive Decepticon city rises out of the ground. Zarak tells the Autobots to prepare to feel the sting of... Scorponok!
-Some of the Hive members use character models of the Ltihonians, the robots briefly seen at the start of the Transformers movie.
