A revised scripted is available for this episode, which can be read in full at the Sunbow and Marvel Productions Script/Storyboard Archive. The original script isn't dated, whilst Ron Friedman's revised script is dated 07/28/1984. This script is then dated as "FINAL" with a date of 08/06/84. This should most likely read 06/08/84.

Unfortunately Ron used a pretty thick marker pen to cross out bits he changed, so it's often hard to tell what was there originally.

ACT 2
ACT 3

The script has a subtitle of "Revival".

ACT 1

This part was meant to have a different opening, but this was crossed out and a note put on stating a recap would be used instead.

The script wanted these two generic Decepticons to be holding weapons here, but in the episode they aren't holding anything. As these generics are based on Starscream, they have the laser cannons on their arms.

The script states Brawn should flip these two Decepticons over by grabbing their arms, but in the episode, he grabs their legs.

In the episode, Brawn doesn't say "uh-oh!" here -his mouth moves, but no words come out.

Roger. Jump in, Spike!

In the episode, Trailbreaker is already in his vehicle mode when he says this line, he's not shown transforming, nor does he roll out of shot. The animators also forgot to include Bumblebee as the Autobots make their escape.

The script listed for there to just be one generic Decepticon here, but the animators put two in the shot, and instead of using generics, they used Starscream and Thundercracker.

The script states to only have one Decepticon jet here, but in the episode two are used. The colors for these two generics aren't very consistent -when they first appear, they're colored like Thundercracker and Skywarp. Then, they both get colored like Skywarp, and then they're both colored like Thundercracker. The script also states Skyfire should fire rockets, which would make the jet back off, but in the episode he fires lasers and hits one of the jets -seemingly destroying it!

Whilst Skyfire's line here was kept, the bit about him dodging Decepticon rockets was cut.

In the episode, the Autobots aren't shown transforming, instead a Autobot/Decepticon symbol flip happens after Brawn says this line, and the Autobots are then shown to be in their robot modes already.

A waste of time, Megatron! Your plan is unworkable!

Operational, Prime. And ready to give Megatron a nickel-knuckle sandwich!

Ratchet doesn't let any water out of his head in the episode.

PROWL
With that much energy at his disposal, I don't see how Megatron can be defeated.

The script specifically wanted Arkeville clinging to a wooden beam, but in the episode the beam is made out of metal.

That's good news. Do you have any plan to counteract their work?

The above was all cut from the episode, and was scripted to happen after Brawn's "if it works" line. Had this been kept in, Shockwave's later "we've been expecting you" line he says to Spike would have made more sense.

SCRIPT
EPISODE DIALOGUE
SHOCKWAVE
Yes... where are the Autobots?!

Sparkplug is never seen aiming his gun directly at Spike -I imagine showing a father getting that close to killing his own son was a bit too much of a risky thing to show on TV, so in the episode he has the gun pointing upwards instead. Some of Sparkplug's facial features (like his eyebrows) start twitching during this shot, seemingly showing he's trying to resist the hypno-chip, something that the script doesn't mention for him to do. Sparkplug is also standing behind Spike, whilst Shockwave is in front of him.

In the episode, Shockwave never says ow here. The script also suggests Shockwave was meant to be holding a separate weapon, rather than using his cannon hand. In the episode, his cannon hand does get blasted, but doesn't change color.

In the episode, no alarms go off here. The laser cannons aren't shown transforming and appear after the Autobots run out, rather than before.

In the episode the camera doesn't pan to Brawn and Bumblebee, instead it cuts to them. Brawn also smiles, and both Autobots look away in the episode.

In the episode, no energon cube is seen at all here.

ACT 3

In the episode, Megatron isn't seen running into this shot -he's already there.

In the episode, Bumblebee's "he is!" comes after Rumble's grunt.

SCRIPT

MEGATRON
You have a bigger problem to deal with, Prime.

In the episode, this was edited slightly differently. Spike fires Prime's gun after Prowl's "that's impossible" line, rather than before.
