Two cops, Maguire and Slim, are out in their patrol car. They're out in the hot desert all because some nut reported seeing a flying saucer. They can't believe it when they actually find what appears to be a UFO out in the middle of the desert. They stop their car and get out, but as they look around they see two beings nearby...
...martians! They start to run back to their car, but one of the martians uses a weapon to blow it up. They decide to take cover and run towards a cave, as one of the martians fires at them again.
They enter the cave, but see that one of the martians has returned to his ship. They just hope he's not gone to bring back more of his buddies, but then see the other martian standing outside the cave's entrance. They hit the ground as they realize he's going to fire again.
The other martian enters the ship, and open part of it up, revealing a large cannon. Maguire wonders what's going on, but then the martian at the cave entrance starts talking to them in English. He tells the Earthmen that they are in their power, and they are to leave the cave now, before it is too late. Slim refuses, so the martian says they've given them no choice.
The cannon fires a rocket, which enters the cave and lands near Maguire and Slim. However it doesn't explode, leaving them to think whatever this thing is, it didn't work. But the rocket then starts dispersing a gas everywhere. Another rocket is then fire from the cannon, which lands near the first one and also starts dispersing smoke. Maguire says he's starting to feel dizzy, and tells Slim maybe they ought to surrender.
The martian at the cave entrance waits... and then becomes a drawing. The entire sequence was something being described by movie director Goldheimer. As he finishes, the producer Bletcher tells him that after he's done that scene, he'll get to the scenes Mr. Stuff included. Goldheimer says those scenes were an inspiration -great cinema! Bletcher asks the chief what he thinks.
Stutt gives the ok. Bletcher tells Goldheimer that Stutt will advance him four million dollars, but he must start shooting the film within the month. Goldheimer thanks both of them, and appreciates the faith they've placed in him, especially after he'd made four failures in a row -he never thought he'd make a film again. Bletcher tells him he won't make another film is he messes up this deal, and then tells him to clear out of here, as Mr. Stutt is a busy man.
Goldheimer thanks them again, offering them a thousand thank yous. As he leaves, Bletcher tells him he should make that four million thank yous. Bletcher then tells his boss it's all set up. Stutt doesn't have much to say to him other than telling him to leave.
As Bletcher leaves the room, Stuff removes his mask, revealing that he's the Hood. He says that part one of his plan is completed, and he then returns to his temple. As he waits in the main hall, he hears someone enter the temple, and head towards him.
General X appears, and waits behind a curtain. The General asks the Hood if he's completed his arrangements. The Hood says he has, and that within a month, he will provide the General with complete film of International Rescue's equipment. He will be charging him 200 million dollars for it. The General says it is a high price to pay, but the Hood says it's not, not for for the power he will gain. He reminds the General that any country would be happy to trade for this information. The General asks if the Hood would double-cross them, as their leader would not like that. The Hood tells him if he has the money, he'll get the film. The General tells him that they'll play their part, if he plays his. He reminds the Hood that he will receive cash upon delivery, and then leaves.
The Hood goes to the statue of Kyrano, and kneels before it. As the veil opens up, he tells Kyrano it's time for him to help once again. Soon he will be under his influence, and will do just as he says. He has a power over him, and whilst the distance between them is great, he can't escape him. The Hood starts calling out Kyrano's name. At Tracy Island, Kyrano us serving drinks.
Jeff thinks that's just what the doctor ordered, but says Kyrano spoils them. He thinks Kyrano should take it easy for a change, but Kyrano says this is his pleasure. As he walks off into the garden, he suddenly collapses. The Hood says Kyrano is now in his power, and will obey him. He tells Kyrano that he is go to Thunderbird 1 and locate the automatic camera detector.
He tells Kyrano not to resist, and demands him to immobilize the automatic camera detector. He wants him to put it out of action! As Kyrano screams out, Jeff and Tin-Tin start looking for him. Jeff asks where he is, and if he's hurt.
Tin-Tin finds her father, and asks what happened. He says he fell because he became dizzy. Jeff says this is what he was afraid of, and thinks Kyrano was overdoing it. Kyrano claims it was nothing, and that he's fine. Tin-Tin tells her father he must rest.
Meanwhile, the martian movie's filming has begun. As the set is cleared, Bletcher asks where the rest of the crew it. Goldheimer explains this is everybody, as with all the new automatic cameras, they can operate from one console. They have six remote control cameras all setup. Bletcher thinks that's great, and asks if they can work independently.
Goldheimer says the camera up there is the real beauty, and points out a camera positioned at the edge of a cliff. He says it has a complete range of 3 inches to 2 miles, and can focus as sharp as a knife. He explains that camera is the one Mr. Stutt ordered personally. Bletcher tells Goldheimer to get started, he's to start with scene 141, one of the scenes Mr. Stutt included. Goldheimer says he can't understand why they can't stick to the schedule he made up, as it'd be more economical. Bletcher says it's Mr. Stutt's money, so he wants Goldheimer to start where he says, or he doesn't start at all. Goldheimer heads off to start filming.
Stuff asks Bletcher if he altered the strength of the explosive charges. Bletcher says he did, and everything has been fixed. Goldheimer contacts the actors in the cave via radio, and asks them if they're ready. They say they are, so the cameras start rolling. Goldheimer tells Brian to hit his smoke.
Inside the cave, Brian is on a small hover bike. It starts emitting smoke, which fills up the cave. He's told to clear the cave, so he heads out of it. Goldheimer then says actions, and filming begins. One of the martians tells the Earthmen to come with them, as they have their orders.
The cops says they'll never be their slaves. The martian says if they can't be made to come willingly, they must remain in that cave -it'll become their tomb! After finishing that line, Goldheimer signals for the explosives to go off. They detonate, but the explosion is massive, and it ends up destroying half the mountain! Goldheimer asks what went wrong with those charges, and tells the crew to try and get the actors out, as this is terrible!
Back at Tracy Island, Kyrano boards Thunderbird 1. Tin-Tin asks him what brings him here. He tells her it's strange, but since his attack he has felt a compulsion to come here and watch her work. He asks what it is exactly she's doing. She says she's checking Thunderbird 1's systems. They never know when the ship will be needed so it has to be perfect at all times. Kyrano asks about the systems. Tin-Tin tells him to make himself comfortable in the control seat and she'll explain. She starts going through the systems, pointing out the ultra HF guidance system, the horizontal flight control...
...and the automatic camera detector. Kyrano asks what that does. Tin-Tin says it warns Scott if any cameras are operating in the vicinity of the craft, and prevents anyone photographing it without his knowledge. Kyrano then hears the Hood's voice in his head, telling him to immobilize the automatic camera detector.
Tin-Tin asks her father if he's alright. Kyrano says he doesn't know, he has the same strange feeling as before. There is something he must tell her, but he's finding it difficult to remember. He did have a message, so Tin-Tin asks if it was from Jeff. Kyrano says perhaps it was, so she tells him not to worry about it, as she'll go to him. She tells her father to sit there and rest. As she leaves, Kyrano can hear the Hood's voice in his head again, telling him to immobilize the automatic camera detector. Meanwhile, Goldheimer finds out that his crew can't shift that rock, and the actors inside the cave are really trapped. Water is pouring in fast, and the roof is giving way! Goldheimer says he doesn't understand, someone must have tampered with those charges.
Inside, the two actors are still alive, but water is rushing into the cave. Goldheimer thinks nobody can save them, but then Bletcher comes over and mentions International Rescue. Goldheimer says he's heard of them, but asks how they can be contacted. Bletcher says you just send out a call from any radio transmitter, and somehow they pick up the message. In Thunderbird 5, John receives a distress call from Goldheimer.
John contacts Tracy Island, and states that two actors have been trapped by a landslide in the Nevada desert. There has been some sort of accident during filming, and the actors are now in a cave that's flooding. Jeff tells Scott to get moving, and advises Virgil to head out in Thunderbird 2, using pod 5. Scott heads off to Thunderbird 1.
Virgil enters Thunderbird 2, and selects pod 5. Goldheimer asks if International Rescue will make it in time. Bletcher thinks he worries too much, and assures him that International Rescue will make it. He then heads back over to Stutt, and says that he's played his little part. He wants to leave, so Stutt lets him, but tells him to keep his mouth shut. Bletcher wants to know about his cut, and Stutt tells him he'll get it if he does as he's told. Bletcher says ok, but wants him to make it soon. He then leaves.
Scott reports that he's approaching the danger zone at a height of 2,500 feet and an air speed of 7,500 miles per hour. He says he'll be touching down in two minutes. Everyone can hear an aircraft approaching, but as they see Thunderbird 1, the Hood is already at a camera. He starts filming Thunderbird 1, and says his plan is working perfectly.
As Thunderbird 1 lands, more rocks begin to fall at the cave's entrance. Scott gets on a radio and makes contact with the actors.
The actors see that the water is rising. Scott asks how long they can hold out. One of the actors says the water will be past their heads in half an hour. Scott thinks that doesn't give them much time, and asks Virgil what his estimated time of arrival is. Virgil says five and a half minutes from now. Scott tells him to unload the drilling and crushing excavator as soon as he lands, as they'll have less than 25 minutes for the rescue. One of the actors thinks they're going to drown.
Thunderbird 2 arrives as the danger zone, and lands. The pod is opened, revealing the excavator, which Virgil drives out. The Hood films the excavator, and thinks what a machine it is. His price is going up every minute!
The excavator reaches the cave entrance. It starts to crush the rocks, and blows the rubble out of some pipes on the back of it. The actors can hear something outside, and know something is going on out there. But just then a load of rocks fall down from above, hitting the water in front of them.
As the excavator continues to crush the rocks, Scott contacts the actors again. He tells them that a hole large enough for them to escape is being drilled, and when he gives the word, he wants them to dive into the water -the pressure will do the rest. One of the actors says he can't swim, but Scott tells him he won't have to, as the current will carry them out. Virgil tells Scott he figures this will take five more minutes.
One of the actors says that if he gets out of this alive, he's going to find who fixed those explosive charges, and then he'll fix him! Meanwhile, the excavator starts blowing out water through its back pipes. Virgil tells Scott that he's through, so he's withdrawing now. As he moves the excavator back, water starts to pour out of the cave.
Scott tells the actors it'll be any moment now. As the water bursts out of the entrance, Scott tells them to dive, which they both do. They are carried out by the current, and wash up outside of the cave.
Inside the cave, everything collapses in. The actors say they've made it, and those guys saved them. Later on, Goldheimer asks Scott and Virgil how he can ever thank them. Scott says they're glad they could help, but Goldheimer feels he must do something, and asks if he can feature them in the movie. Scott laughs and says they're not the movie star type. He thanks him anyway, but then says they have to get back to base.
Virgil says that's right, they have to be on hand in case another emergency call is received. Life is pretty hectic in the International Rescue organization. Meanwhile, the Hood says this is magnificent, and now all he requires are the last shots: the two Thunderbird craft taking off. At Thunderbird 2, the excavator is driven back into the pod, and the pod door is closed.
Thunderbird 2 collects the pod, and then takes off. Scott says so long to Goldheimer, and notices that he has a camera. He says sorry, but no pictures.
Goldheimer says that's a shame, but how about the ones he's already got? Scott thinks that's impossible, the detector would have warned him. He then realizes that someone must have tampered with the detector, and anyone could have used a camera and he wouldn't have known it! They could taken a whole film!
The Hood has left his disguise on one of the cameras. Scott goes back and asks Goldheimer if there is anyway of knowing what the film cameras have taken. Goldheimer says they can play back from the camera console, but no one has been filming as they've been too busy watching the rescue. Scott says that may be the case, but still wants to watch the playback. Goldheimer switches the console on, which starts displaying footage shot for the movie.
But as he switches cameras, they see video of Thunderbird 1 coming in to land! Scott says he's got to destroy that film, and asks Goldheimer to do the same to his shots. They then notice a truck driving away, and Scott asks who's that. Goldheimer looks and sees the Hood driving, but doesn't know who he is. He wonders how he got through, as he's never seen the guy before.
The Hood, using the codename of agent 7-9, contacts General X. At his mansion, the General trusts his agent has good news for him. The Hood says he's happy to report that the mission has been entirely successful -in fact, it's in the can. The information the General requires is secured, and in a few short hours, he shall deliver it to him in person. At last, has has outwitted International Rescue -their plans are secret no longer!
Scott takes off in Thunderbird 1, and contacts Tracy Island. He explains the situation, and says that it's not magnetic film, so he can't wipe it with the electronic beam. Jeff says the entire future of International Rescue is at stake. That film negative must not get away, if this organization is not security tight, it cannot remain functional. Scott says he knows, he just wishes he knew how that camera detector was sabotaged. Jeff says they'll look into that later, first of all they've got to destroy that can of film.
Scott chases down the truck, and flies alongside it. He uses a loudspeaker and tells the Hood he is requesting him to stop and hand over the film of the rescue operation. The Hood does not respond, so Scott warns him that if he doesn't hand over the film now, he'll have to use more persuasive methods. He gives him five seconds to respond, but realizes the Hood has no intentions of stopping. The Hood makes a sudden turn to the right.
Scott catches back up with him and thinks some warning shots might make him change his mind. He fires a few shots from Thunderbird 1's cannon, which hit the road. The Hood still doesn't stop, and Scott thinks he's really going to have to give it to him. He tells the Hood this is his last chance, he can either stop now or he'll be shot to pieces.
Scott sees the Hood still hasn't slowed down, and thinks he's asked for it. He fires again, but the Hood drives into a tunnel. Scott contacts Tracy Island and says that the guy has gone into a tunnel. The tunnel goes quite a way into the mountains, so this guy might wait there until dark and then come out the same end again. Scott says that if he went in on foot, the guy would have too big a head start on him.
Jeff says to get Virgil to go to the south entrance of the tunnel, whilst Scott will go to the north end and wait there. Alan says that the north end of the tunnel comes out at reference GH7/FG4. Scott says he'll set a course right away. Meanwhile, Virgil finds out from Jeff that they're in serious trouble. Jeff gives him the course to get to the Stapleton Tunnel.
The Hood call the General again. The General says he was expecting him to have arrived by this time. The Hood offers his apologies, and says he has been delayed. The General gets annoyed and asks when he's going to get his film. The Hood says soon, once he has shaken off International Rescue. The General says he doesn't understand, as one minute the Hood boasted he had defeated International Rescue, and the next he's saying they're chasing him? He warns that if the film isn't in his hands within the hour, their agreement is at an end! He advises him to get rid of International Rescue rather soon, as he doesn't want them to follow him here! The Hood wonders what he should do.
Jeff wonders what this guy is going to do -carry on to the other end, or reverse out of it? Alan says they'll have to make up their mind soon, as Scott should be arriving at the north end by now. At the tunnel's north entrance, Scott arrives in Thunderbird 1. Jeff tells him to keep his eyes fixed on the exit to the tunnel -Virgil should be reaching the other end any moment.
At the south end of the tunnel, the Hood steps outside and is pleased that there are no signs of International Rescue. He thinks they've gone to seek him at the other end, so he heads back to his truck. Virgil says he's about to arrive, and Jeff explains that Scott is at the north end, so they've got this guy trapped. The Hood then races out of the tunnel's south exit, and Virgil says he can see him.
Virgil says this guy is heading back the way he came. Jeff tells Virgil to get after him, and don't let him out of his sight. The state police are giving full co-operation, so Virgil can use any means he likes, but they've got to get that roll of film. Virgil says it's a twisted road and the terrain is pretty rugged. Jeff tells Scott to go and help Virgil and the other end of the tunnel. Meanwhile, Virgil gets some rockets ready to fire.
He fires the rockets at a cliff, creating a landslide. The landslide causes rocks and other debris to fall all over the road the Hood is driving down, forcing him to stop his truck. Virgil tells Scott he thinks the guy has left his truck, and has gone into the trees. He's going to go after him, but it isn't going to be easy to make a landing in this terrain.
General X wonders where that agent is, as his patience is getting exhausted. He tries to contact the Hood, but gets no response. Meanwhile, the Hood makes it through the forest, and comes across something: an airfield! He thinks this is perfect.
Virgil uses a hover bike and tells Scott this guy has left a perfect trail. But the Hood has already stolen an airplane, and takes off. Virgil watches the plane fly away, and tells Scott the guy is heading in a south south east direction in a Grade Angel executive aircraft. He tells him the aircraft's serial number is SQW44, so Scott says he's on his way and changes course.
The Hood thinks he understands how to handle the controls, but wants more speed out of the plane. He then contacts the General, who wants to know where that film is. The Hood says he's rushing the film to him now, and is happy to say that he's finally disposed of International Rescue. He asks for just one concession: can he land near his villa? The General tells him very well, there is a suitable field he will see. Jeff contacts Scott and asks how it's going. Scott says they're breaking off the chase, as he's just had a report that the stolen craft was due for a major overhaul. According to the engineers, it can't stay up for more than a few minutes.
The Hood begins to lose control of his plane, and says the controls aren't responding. He narrowly avoids crashing into a tower, but hears the engine spluttering. He wonders what's the matter with this aircraft, as he's losing height! But he can see the General's villa, and thinks he can make it. As the plane goes into a dive, he tries to pull up. But the controls still won't respond, so he begins pressing random buttons and switches to try and fix it.
He ends up jettisoning the plane's remaining fuel. The plane then hits a power line, causing part of it to catch fire due to all the fuel leaking out of it. The Hood almost crashes into the General's village, but he manages to pull the plane up at the last moment.
He asks the General to excuse him, this time he'll make a different approach. Nearby, Scott has Thunderbird 1 hover in place. He tells his father he's sighted the guy, and it looks like the end is pretty near. The Hood approaches the villa again, but he can no longer see anything due to all the smoke coming into the plane. He attempts to make a landing.
He ends up crashing into the villa, but survives. Scott has been watching, and thinks that's the end of that little episode. He doesn't believe the stolen film could have survived that smash.
Later on, the martian movie has resume filming. The cave entrance explodes, but this time, the charges aren't anywhere near as powerful. Goldheimer says cut, and thinks the special effects fellas know their job -that explosion would have even pleased Mr. Stuff, or whatever that guy called himself. Nearby, Scott and Virgil have been watching. Virgil wonders if that Stutt guy could be the agent who's been after their plans ever since they went into the rescue business. Scott says he was wondering the same thing himself, but says whatever disguise that guy wears, they'll get him one day.
