Resurrected by Shao Kahn, Kano is sent to the Earthrealm with a device which can emit fake rip signals. These get picked up by Nightwolf, who sends the Defenders of the Realm out to places where rips are meant to be, only for them to find nothing. The team start getting annoyed with him and whilst he thinks his calculations are correct, Nightwolf starts to doubt himself. After some advice from Rayden, Nightwolf and Kiva head to Egypt, the place where this all started.

Kiva finds a piece of metal with the Black Dragon symbol on it. When Nightwolf shows this to everyone at the base, Sonya is in despair, as she believed the Black Dragon were destroyed when she killed Kano in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Kitana says that the emperor may have helped Kano elude death. Most of the team head to Egypt, where they find another Black Dragon symbol on a pyramid. They enter it and soon find Kano, and realize that he was the one who caused the fake signals.

Kano then opens a real portal, but Nightwolf and Stryker are able to seal it up before anything comes through. Sonya and Kano fight, with Sonya eventually being the victor, but Kano manages to get away. He drops the signal device, which Nightwolf takes, just before the entire pyramid starts to explode. The team manage to get out of it just in time.

Nightwolf is glad this ordeal is over, as the fake signal were driving him crazy and at least now they won't be tricked any more. Sonya is upset that Kano escaped, saying this isn't something that she's ready to let go. Elsewhere, Shao Kahn has been watching. He says that it is far from over.

Notes

-A message at the start of the episode states "In loving memory of Valerie Hawke". Valerie was the production manager on the series, and worked on some other shows (including the Double Dragon cartoon). I believe she died in late 1996.

-This episode mentions deaths of human characters, a rarity for a kid's cartoon. Sonya's partner is confirmed to have died in the explosion, although his death isn't seen. Sonya is also seen snapping Kano's neck as per his death in the live action movie, but as he back to life in this episode that somehow made it ok I guess.

Errors

-When Sonya sees Kano after jumping out of the window, the wrong character model for Kano is used -it's the bald Kano seen throughout most of the episode, rather than the Kano seen during the tournament flashback.
-When Nightwolf tells Sonya it's hard when you start doubting yourself, his jacket is colored white instead of black.
-When Kano knocks Sonya down, there is a layering mistake where Kano overlaps Sonya, making him look half his size.
