Elsewhere, Anderson is on the phone to Maxwell. He says that someone is leaking information about them to Millennium, as he's been repeatedly attacked by their agents. Maxwell says that Millennium have agents everywhere, including in the Vatican and probably in the round table. He tells him to stay alert and don't underestimate the resourcefulness of this scum. Millennium's next target is England, just as he thought it would be. Millennium isn't interested in them, they just want Hellsing and Alucard. But actions speak louder than words, and he is going to plan a surprise attack. When the dust settles, they'll be the ones left in the ring with their fists raised high. This will be like a crusade, only this time their enemy is the war God, Mars. He tells Anderson to return immediately.
Anderson thinks about Mars and then takes out several more Millennium loyalists who'd appeared behind him. He tells them to have a taste of their divine punishment.
On the deck of the Eagle, Van Winkle is waiting (from under the cover of a parasol). She has an alarm clock and she sees that she only has 36 hours and 15 minutes to go. Back in England, General Penwood has called Integra to his base, and says that they lost contact with the Eagle 18 hours a go. The ship is anchored 300 kilometers off the coast of Pollington bay. Satellite photos have shown that the ship has enemy colors on it, so that's why Integra has been called here.
The Eagle isn't answered their emergency communications and the photos have also shown that there is one person on the deck, who has a parasol. Two SAS platoons are currently on route to the Eagle to assess the situation and hopefully bring things to a resolution. Integra tells Penwood to cancel the operation and bring the SAS platoons immediately. However there isn't any time, as the staff receive a report that the two SAS helicopters have been shot down, seemingly by a single musket shot. Integra says this is the work of vampires, therefore she'll be assuming jurisdiction here.
Sir Penwood has no objections to this and hands things over to her. She and Walter then leave the room, and discuss what to do. The Eagle has yet to make a move, but they can't just ignore it. The ship does fire on them when they get close, and it seems to want to lure them in. Integra wonders how they can deal with this, as moving vampires over large bodies of water is problematic. She suggests sending them on a large ship, but Walter says that would take too long to prepare. He suggests a small boat, but Integra says it'd get blown apart by the Eagle's guns. They think about using planes, but the ship's anti-aircraft guns along with the "magic bullets" make that a problem. Alucard appears and says they need to get him onto the flight deck of the ship. Walter says he might have an idea to do just that -he knows of a unique aircraft that might be up to the task.
Later on, three fighter planes fire several missiles at the Eagle. The missiles are destroyed before they reach their target, and then the planes are blown up by Van Winkle.
She starts to sing from "Der Freischütz", her favorite opera. But she suddenly drops to her knees in terror and screams that someone is here. The new crew of the ship see that something has appeared on radar, heading towards them at mach 2.8. They believe it's a reconnaissance aircraft until they hear Van Winkle scream that he's coming. They aren't sure what she means by that, and try to get her to explain, but she repeatedly states that the madness is coming, she can hear him.
The madness is Alucard, who is onboard a heavily modified reconnaissance plane, altered to break high-altitude and high-speed records. Van Winkle seems to have regained control of herself and as the ship's guns open fire, she also takes a shot. Her bullet hits the plane, and causes part of it to explode.
But she can still hear that voice, a voice which says he's coming for her. Alucard's plan impacts onto the Eagle and causes a large explosion. The fire kills many of the Nazis, but Van Winkle can only stare at the fire...as Alucard appears out of it. What did the Major tell here again?
The Major once asked her about Der Freischütz, asking if she knew how it ended. It ended with Caspar, who had trifled with the "black huntsman" Samiel, being taken to hell to pay for his sins. Caspar's corpse is then thrown into a ravine, where it is eaten by wolves. She should prepare herself, as one day Samiel may appear before her. Back in the present, Samiel has now appeared before her, in the form of Alucard.
Alucard's presence terrifies Van Winkle so much that she can't even move, and simply stands there trembling as Alucard goes to grab her. He says that those who impersonate the dead are judged to join their ranks. Just before he can get her, he gets torn apart in a hail of bullets. The surviving Nazis have gathered together and defend their superior officer, as she back away.
The Nazis keep firing with everything they have, but Alucard starts to use his powers and quickly regenerates his body. Having given himself many arms, he lunges at the Nazis and quickly tears them apart, killing them all in seconds. The alarm clock goes off, seconds before Alucard crushes it.
Only Van Winkle is left, as she cowers in fear. As Alucard goes towards her, she hears the Major's voice, who asked her what she would do if Samiel appeared before her. Alucard then asks her what she is going to do. Wiping away her tears, Van Winkle stands up. Tinker tailor, soldier sailor...her bullet punishes all without distinction!
Van Winkle fires, and her bullet hits Alucard, moving him back. Again and again, her bullet hits him, if she can just knock him into the water...but she can't, as even though Alucard is next to the edge of the ship, he manages to catch the bullet in his mouth, and then crushes it.
He says that he has just caught her. Without any way to defend herself, Van Winkle becomes overcome with fear again and doesn't move. Alucard walks up to her and then punches her in the face, causing her to lose her glasses and drop her musket. Alucard picks her weapon up and then picks her up.
He uses the musket to stab through Van Winkle, pinning her to the ship. As her blood spills, he takes his time to lick it up. He then bites into her neck and proceeds to drain, and then consume her.
As Van Winkle dies, Schrödinger appears along with another portable screen. The Major appears on it, and congratulates the first lieutenant on finishing her mission, her operation was a success. No matter how many stones you cast upon the water's surface, and no matter how many times you stomp your boots on the creeping shadows, they'll never submit to your will. That's the river of death. Life and death, when viewed from the proper perspective, are really just one big hoax. The immortal, the invincible, the undefeated, the almighty...those things are ludicrous. But they can cast light upon the shadow, and through her sacrifice, they will overthrow Alucard.
Doc is about to terminate Van Winkle, but the Major tells him to stop. She completed her mission perfectly, and she deserves a hunter's death. He doesn't want her to be cremated. Doc weakly says that's a generous thing to do, as the Major bids farewell to Van Winkle, saying he'll see her in Valhalla. The other Nazis watching also say farewell to her.
Alucard finishes off Van Winkle, and only her musket remains. He just starts to laugh manically, as the Major asks him if he's having fun. War is fun, after all. And whilst he is laughing now, he'll soon see his plans unfold...the destruction of the British Empire.
The Major then addresses his forces, telling them that he likes war. He loves war. Holocausts, blitzkriegs, defensive lines, sieges, charges, retreats...he loves them all. No matter where the war is, he loves every act of it that can occur on the planet. Tanks, snipers, machinegun fire...he loves it. He's overcome with joy when he sees a new recruit stabbing a dead enemy over and over again. Watching deserters being strung up from a street lamp is a irresistible pleasure. He doesn't just love his offenses though -he even loves it when the enemy best them, when his own men crawl around like vermin.
He says he wants a war, a hellish war. He asks his troops if they also want a war, a merciless war, a war like a tempest that will kill all the ravens on this Earth? The troops start shouting "war!" over and over again. The Major says that war is what they shall have.
But after enduring over half a century in darkness, a ordinary war will no longer be sufficient. They need a massive war, one larger than all of man's history has ever known. Whilst they are just a single battalion, with only 1,000 troops, but he believes that one of them is worth 1,000 enemy troops. They represent a force that could defeat an enemy force of a million and one. It's time for them to awaken the ones who sent them to oblivion, who now lie asleep. They'll open their eyes and remind them of what they are, and what it feels like to live in fear! For the final part of his message, the Major tells his troops that they will bring the enemy hell.
