Synopsis

Hellsing's forces track down a vampire, who has been taken to the home of a guy called Peter Winfield. Alucard, a servant of the Hellsing organization, kills the vampire with a single shot. Sometime later, Integra, who is the head of the Hellsing organization, is informed about a vampire Priest. She learns that police and an elite unit were sent in, but these forces have taken heavy losses, and some of them have turned into monsters. In a forest, one of the surviving elite unit members, Victoria Seras, tries to help her injured teammates. But they become ghouls who try to attack her, forcing her to flee.

She encounters Alucard, and whilst he kills a ghoul, she realizes he isn't human and shoots him. She then runs off again and comes across a church. She enters it, but the vampire Priest is inside. He uses his powers to put her in a trance, and intends to drink her blood. But before he can, Alucard arrives at the church, and kicks the door down. He expresses his hatred towards the Priest, telling him that he's a disgrace.

The Priest has his army of ghouls shoot Alucard, but he quickly regenerates and destroys them all. The Priest gets desperate and uses Seras as a shield, but Alucard tells the police girl that he's going to have to shoot through her to get the Priest. He asks her if she wants to come with him, and she says she does. Alucard fires, hitting Seras and killing the Priest. He then approaches Seras and drinks her blood, just as Integra and more of the Hellsing forces arrive. Alucard says he wants the police girl transferring to the Hellsing organization, and whilst Integra reminds him he doesn't get to make decisions, he explains that Seras made this choice herself. As the Hellsing forces begin to leave, Alucard tells Seras this was a perfect night.

Manga Differences

-The episode's opening scene with Peter isn't in the manga. The manga starts with Alucard walking towards the village.

-In the manga, Alucard is contacted by Integra as he heads towards the village, and he comments on what a nice night it is. In the episode, Integra doesn't contact him.

-The manga has a prologue showing the Priest entering the village, killing people and then being confronted by the police and some villagers (who he kills). This isn't in the anime.

-Integra's meeting with the police takes place in an office in the episode. In the manga, it takes place in a large tent.

-The lieutenant in the episode looks completely different to the one in the manga. More police are present in the manga, whilst in the episode there's just one other officer.

-The lieutenant seems to have some idea of what's going on and what he's supposed to do in the episode. In the manga, he has no idea, and Integra even tells him someone of his level wouldn't have needed to know.

-In the manga, Seras is first seen in a forest, running away from the Priest and his ghouls. In the episode, a new scene showing Seras under attack from her own unit was added.

-The episode also has a scene where Alucard destroys a ghoul in front of Seras. Seras shoots Alucard and then runs off to the church. This wasn't in the manga at all.

-The Priest appears to use some kind of hypnosis on Seras in the episode. He's not seen using these kinds of powers in the manga.

-In the manga, the Priest intends to rape Seras before sucking her blood, and then turn her into one of his ghouls. In the episode, he says turning her into a ghoul would be a waste, and seems to intend to turn her into his slave once he's drained her blood.

-In the episode, the battle with the Priest takes place inside a church, whilst in the manga, it happens in a forest.

-In the manga, Alucard asks Seras if she's a virgin before shooting her. In the episode, he asks her if she wants to come with him.

-After the Priest gets shot, the manga has Alucard strike him again, hitting him so hard that his arm goes right through him. This doesn't happen in the episode, instead the Priest crumbles to dust after being shot.

-In the episode, Seras is seen having her blood sucked by Alucard. This is not shown in the manga, but it does happen off-panel.

-The manga ends on a comedic moment where Integra and the rest of the police are confused at who Seras is, and then alarmed when they realized Alucard has turned her into a vampire. In the episode, Integra shows annoyance with Alucard taking too long, and then says they're moving out.

Notes

-The song played during the intro is called "COOL ~The World Without Logos~". It is sung by Yasushi Ishii.

-Peter is not named in the episode itself. His name is listed in the episode's credits, with his full name and title being "Sir Peter Winfield".

-The next episode preview segment features the spirit of the Harkonnen, a weapon Seras will be seen acquiring in a later episode. The Harkonnen spirit does appear in the manga, but only appears in the preview segments of the anime.

-At the end of the credits, there is a shot of Alucard's sunglasses. One of three characters can be seen in them in each episode: Alucard, Seras or Integra. In this episode, Alucard is seen.
