Cybertron has been destroyed by the Destrons and is now lost for eternity. Rodimus Convoy has also gone, searching for a new planet for the Transformers to live on in peace. On Athenia, Arcee, Wheelie and Daniel think about these recent events. Wheelie wonders of Rodimus will ever come back. Arcee says she is sure he will, and tells him to show a bit of spirit. Chromedome then appears and asks the others to head inside as the party is about to start. Wheelie doesn't want to go as he doesn't like parties, but becomes interested when Chromedome mentions that there is going to be an announcement at it.
Inside, Fortress announces that they have completed work on an energy gathering satellite called Sol-1. Spike says that they plan to launch Sol-1 in one week's time, and it will represent the successful cooperation between Earth and the Cybertrons.
Later on, Wheelie is enjoying a lot of energon goodies, although Arcee tells him to watch it -eating too much is bad for you. Wheelie says he is in great shape. Elsewhere, Hardhead has gotten a little drunk and begs Twincast to transform so they can get some karaoke going. Twincast wants a drink himself but Hardhead keeps asking, so he transforms and starts playing Kimi wa Transformer.
Hardhead starts singing and the other Cybertrons cheers him on. Meanwhile Wheelie keeps eating, and needs a little drink to help get it down. He has some energon wine and ends up passing out.
Meanwhile, on Jaar, the Destrons are discussing the fate of their leader. They have searched for him, but have not found anything, and Sixshot believes he must have died when Cybertron exploded. Scourge says they must assume he will not be returning, but then the lights go out. Someone laughs, and Cyclonus and Scourge are relieved to see Galvatron is back! But as they run towards him, Soundblaster stops them. He says whoever it is here is not Galvatron, as they do not have the same voice pattern.
The shadow of Galvatron changes into Scorponok. Scorponok tells the Destrons that Galvatron is still alive -but he was ordered not to reveal his location by Galvatron himself. For now, Scorponok will act as the Emperor -they are to follow his orders as if they were Galvatron's orders. Outside, Cyclonus and Scourge ask Soundblaster if they should believe Scorponok, who says they should as there isn't anything they can do about it. As he walks off, Scourge tells Cyclonus he isn't happy about this.
A week later at the Sol-1 launch center, several Cybertrons have gathered as the rocket is due to take off shortly. Daniel and Wheelie are wondering about the name of the rocket, so Chromedome informs them the "Sol" means "Solar" as the satellite will gather energy from the sun. This energy will then be transferred back to the Earth. Just then Chromedome senses something, and sure enough, there is a Destron in the room. Ratbat transforms and avoids Chromedome's shots, and smashes through a window.
Ratbat returns to Soundblaster, who relays the information to Scorponok. It seems that Fortress is now in command of the Cybertrons, and they intend to launch the Sol-1 into space soon. Cyclonus and Scourge head outside and start to complain about Soundblaster and his sycophantic methods. They want to get in favor with Scorponok, and Scourge says he has a plan. He and Cyclonus head to the Earth Destron base, but find out from Razorclaw that Sixshot isn't around, as he often vanishes. The two tell Razorclaw their plan: they are going to attack the Sol-1 base and destroy the satellite, and then go and tell Scorponok whilst taking all the credit. Razorclaw thinks it is a good plan and gathers together the rest of his team.
The Animatrons transform into Predaking and leave with Cyclonus and Scourge. As they do, Sixshot appears, wondering why those fools won't listen. At the Sol-1 base, everyone is watching as the satellite is due to launch in minutes, but then some Destrons appear! The Cybertron Headmasters and Trainbots head outside, just as the Destrons reach the Sol-1.
But before they can do anything to it, the Cybertrons attack them. The Trainbots transform into Raiden, who kicks Predaking back. Cyclonus and Scourge are no match for the Cybertron Headmasters, and are easily defeated. Predaking manages to knock Raiden down, but then gets repeatedly blasted by Chromedome and the others.
This gives Raiden enough time to recover and smash Predaking down. With the Destrons out of the way, the Sol-1 blasts off successfully and is soon in space. The rocket breaks away, leaving only the satellite, which stops and starts to gather energy from the sun...
...which is sent back to the Earth. Failing in their mission, the Destrons retreat, whilst the Cybertrons head back inside. A reporter asks Chromedome that whilst the Sol-1 launch has been a success, should they still be worried about the Destrons? Chromedome says that there is no need for concern. Sol-1 is a symbol of unity between Cybertron and Earth, and the Cybertron Headmasters will give their lives to protect it.
Meanwhile, Scorponok is observing the Sol-1. According to his calculations, the Sol-1 can store 10 to the power of 15 megawatts of solar energy per day. Skullcruncher doesn't quite understand what that means and thinks it is 15 times more powerful than a gun, but Weirdwolf sets him straight -it just means it is a lot of energy. A lot of energy they can steal and put into Scorponok's new body. Scorponok says Weirdwolf is correct, so the Destron Headmasters move out, taking Astrotrain, Octane and Blitzwing with them. They are seen by Fortress Maximus on Athenia, who alerts the Cybertron Headmasters.
On Earth, Chromedome and the others are about to leave when Sixshot attacks. Chromedome says they are running out of time, but then gets blasted. Sixshot retreats, but the Cybertrons aren't going anywhere with Chromedome down.
They head back to Battleship Maximus. As Chromedome is repaired, Fortress and the others learn that the Sol-1 has been taken. Brainstorm thinks it must have been taken back to Jaar, but Fortress says that isn't right. He has been tracking the Sol-1, which has had rocket boosters attached to it to move it at great speed. He heads to his ship's bridge and transforms into his head mode, and continues to monitor the Sol-1. He calculates the Sol-1's new course and locates exactly where it should be. He believes it will be in a gas body in a black nebula.
The Cybertrons return to Athenia, and Chromedome is repaired. He wants to go out and get the Sol-1 back straight away as he promised the people of Earth he would protect it. The others know where the satellite should be, and they tell Arcee to inform Fortress whilst they move out. The four Cybertrons soon get to where it should be, and this is confirmed when they are shot at. The Destron Headmasters are guarding the Sol-1.
Firing back poses a problem for the Cybertrons, as a missed shot could destroy the Sol-1. They instead transform and ram into the Destrons, trying to get them away from the satellite. However, the Sol-1 starts to gather energy up, and sends it through the nebula...where it is transferred to planet Zarak. It is stored into a a large object.
The Cybertrons and Destrons continue to fight. The Cybertrons push the Destrons back and then look into the nebula. They think a Destron base must be there, and that is why energy from the Sol-1 was sent through it. They want to move the satellite back, but then the Destrons return. Weirdwolf explains that if they try and move it, they will use their telepathic powers to destroy it.
The Destrons then fly off, and Chromedome says they have no choice -they will have to destroy it. They attack bombs to the Sol-1 and then move back, as the satellite explodes seconds later.
Returning to Athenia, Chromedome tells Spike he did not fulfill his promise. Spike tells him that whilst the Sol-1 has been destroyed, it will not damage the relationship between Earth and the Cybertrons. They can start making the Sol-2 next. Whilst Spike's words have raised the spirits of the Cybertrons, Fortress feels that something terrible is about to happen.
NOTES
Wheelie starts crying at the start of the episode -with real tears.
This episode has an awful amount of noticeable errors in it, probably the biggest one being Blurr making an appearance at the party (even though he's meant to be on a journey with Rodimus and Chear). Other errors include many coloring mistakes.
The song Hardhead does Karaoke to is the theme used in the credits sequence for the series.
