The robe that Joe is briefly seen wearing before his fight with Hwa Jai features a dragon on the back of it. In The King of Fighters '98, Joe has a new intro animation wear he takes off his robe and tosses it aside. The robe in the game also features a dragon on it.

Kim's wife, Myeng, makes a cameo in 1998's Real Bout Fatal Fury 2. She can be seen in the Korea stage whenever Kim is fighting on it, and is wearing the same outfit she has in the film.

When Andy arrives to help Mai take on Hauer and Panni, he's wearing a black outfit instead of his usual white one. When Fatal Fury 3 was released in 1995, Andy's alternate color is a black outfit.

Mai defeats Panni with her super deadly nina bee move. In the games released before the movie, Mai is covered in flames when she uses this move, but in the movie, she's surrounded by a pink aura. In Fatal Fury 3, Mai has a hidden desperation move which references this, as she'll do the move with a pink aura instead of the usual flames. She also has this attack in Real Bout Fatal Fury.

Terry uses a new move to defeat Mars -he strikes with one fist and a large explosion of energy erupts out of him. This may have inspired a new super move he has in 1999's Garou: Mark of the Wolves, called the buster wolf. The end of this move looks very similar to the movie attack.
