Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf (DVD)

I didn't like this that much. The main problem I had were the highly lackluster fight scenes, especially the final battle between Terry and Geese, which basically goes like this: Terry uses a special move, Geese avoids it. Terry uses another special move, Geese avoids it. Geese uses a special move, Terry avoids it. Terry uses a secret special move, Geese blocks it. Terry uses another secret special move, Geese loses. It was a lame final fight and many of the other matches, especially the ones during the tournament scene, are really short. And then the other plot elements weren't great either, such as the writers deciding Terry needed a girlfriend just so she could be killed off, but what was that meant to do? Geese had already killed Terry's father, I don't really think Terry needed any more reasons to go and defeat Geese.

Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle (DVD)

Now this was a lot better. Even though it isn't much longer than the first one, it packs a heck of a lot more into it and is better in all aspects. The fight sequences were great, there were a couple that could have gone on for a little longer (Terry defeating Axel with one punch, for example) but they were generally excellent and the last fight scene in this movie is so much better than the previous one. The story was also fleshed out well, I liked the scenes showing Krauser's past and that flashback with Terry as a kid was also good. This is my favourite Fatal Fury anime.

Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture (DVD)

The third movie has always been hit and miss for me. The fact that this was a movie rather than a TV special should mean better animation, but I don't think that holds true. One problem I have is Masami Ōbari's character designs -whilst he also did the designs for the previous two films I just think that the look of this movie isn't as good as the previous one. The animation quality is also all over the place and the scene where Terry fights three of the masked guys features some really, really bad animation, almost as if a separate studio took over for that bit. Another scene later where Andy, Joe and Mai are fighting the masked warriors was badly done. I mean just look at some of these frames! The fight sequences often went back to the quality featured in the first movie: too short. Andy's final battle with Hauer is practically over before it has even begun. I did think, at least, the battle God Laocorn has with the four heroes was pretty good. But overall the second Fatal Fury movie was the best one, followed by this and then the first movie.

Art of Fighting (DVD)

This was just trash. I said once before the first 20 minutes or so were OK but after viewing it again I don't know what I was talking about. I was watching the English dub this time round but I really don't think it matters on which language you listen to, this is the absolute worst video game to cartoon adaption I have ever seen. Everything about it sucked, there is nothing positive I can say. All that is left for me to do now is to watch the supposedly awful Samurai Shodown anime to find out if it is even worse than this.

Martin Luther King Madness & Cammy Madness (Youtube)

Geoff the Hero returns with not one but two madness series this month, highlights include him beating an 11,000 point Vega player whilst rocking out to "I Wanna Be a Hulkamaniac" (I have a new found appreciation for that song), beating a Guile player and going absolutely nuts at the end and many more. Watch them all.
