Street Fighter II Movie (DVD)

I had to watch this in order to to a write up for it, but I hadn't seen it in at least half a decade. I watched the Japanese version of the film first, and I think the film has aged well -the fight scenes are still really, really good. My favourite ones are Ryu Vs. Sagat, Ryu Vs. Fei Long and the final battle at the end. The story could have used some work though -I think Vega's whole thing with the monitor cyborgs was silly, and I don't think he needed to try and get bad things done undercover. Vega could have crushed anyone who opposed him, he even had to fight Ryu and Ken "at their level" during the last battle. And I thought the ending was dumb even when I first saw this thing 10 years a go. Why is Vega alive? Why is he driving a truck? Why does Ryu try and jump kick a truck? Why didn't Ken and Eliza see Vega in the truck and come back? But as far a video game based movies go, this is one of my favourites, along with Fatal Fury 2.

Street Fighter (DVD)

I hadn't seen this movie in almost a decade, and wasn't expecting much from it given how much hate it seems to get, but I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, it's a bad movie, but it certainly isn't a contender for the worst movie ever awards. The fight scenes were mostly poor though, with only the final battle between Guile and Bison being OK at best. Jean Claude's acting was bad. But there were so many little moments that made me smile. There were some generally funny lines, Zangief's actor was great, Raul Julia's performance was fantastic (some of the facial expressions he made were hilarious) and there were some nice little video game references, like Bison using a Super SFII arcade stick. This was worth the £3.99 I paid for it.

Don't scare the hare (BBC 1)

So, I was eating breakfast one morning, and before the news came on, there was a commercial for this show, which featured a giant robot rabbit. I thought it was a joke at first, but one Saturday I tuned in and found out that this was actually a real thing. Someone actually thought that this was a good idea. This is what someone at the BBC thought could pass for Saturday night entertainment. Really. I thought it was a kids show at first, but no, you've got adults running around trying not to wake up this robot bunny which charges around the set when scared. I wish I was making this up, but I can confirm that this did actually air, and there are new episodes every week. Is it any wonder than I rarely ever watch normal TV?
