Street Fighter (DVD)

So I had to go through both seasons of this as I re-did each episode for my new cartoon coverage section. This show has had a lot of stick over the years and most see it as being so bad it's good. Season 1 does largely fall into this category. Some of the things that happen are just silly, such as Bison wanting one billion pounds in one episode, something he gets...and he ends up just throwing it at Honda. And then he pretty much says he doesn't even care about it any more. The animation is also horrible, "Chunnel Vision" was the absolute worst looking episode of the series and clearly this never had a big budget.

Season 2, I thought, was quite a step up over the first and I thought was a lot better written in some episodes. There were some great character moments in episodes like the one where Ryu and Ken fight Akuma, and the last episode was really well done. Plus the animation was better -not much better, but most episodes were superior to the ones from the first season.

Darkstalkers (DVD)

I really didn't like this show. The animation is terrible, even worse than the first season of Street Fighter, with some appalling character models. But then you've got the actually episodes themselves, which just suck. Whenever the show is trying to be serious, it just becomes an even bigger joke, because nothing is funnier than watch some super asshole version of Donovan just walk around ignoring everyone just so he can kill Darkstalkers. I really laughed when, in one episode, Donovan fights Demitri and Demitri picks up a young girl to use as a hostage. Donovan just blasts them both. And then in another episode, Donovan is wearing a hat for no reason at all. I guess there are some funny moments in this show, especially whenever Anakaris and Raptor are in a scene (Scott McNeil's voice acting is great) but eh, I really don't think this series has aged that well since I last saw it. It has made me want to check out the Night Warriors anime though, so hopefully I'll get around to adding that to the cartoon coverage section later on next year.

The Big Knights (DVD)

This show originally aired about 11 years a go and I only go to see a couple of episodes. This DVD has all 13 episodes though and I think it's really funny. Two knights, Sir Morris and Sir Boris, go on adventures with their noble pets Sir Horace and Sir Doris. They usually are called upon by the King to do tasks and you've got things such as escorting Princesses, competing in the village games, time travel mishaps and more. I'm glad my brother A) reminded me about this show and B) told me it had finally been released on DVD. Watch this if you want a preview.
