Ragey found these sprites of the fat enemies. Judging from the arm movements, it looks like these guys could pick things up and throw them.

These aren't actually unused so to speak (they are part of the robot dinosaur's animation frames that are rapidly cycled through at the end of round 6), but it appears that the boss would have had a chest compartment that opened up. Presumably those red things are laser cannons.
