The last round consists of several rooms, each one filled with the same enemy type. There are still hostages to rescue, but there are only a couple per room and are impossible to miss. The first room is full of the soldiers.
There is nothing of particular challenge here, just duck to avoid the enemy fire and use Yamato to stun them. There are a few grouped together near the exit, but overall this room is the easiest one of them all.
The next room has lots of the armored troops in it, who roll around to move about and are able to deflect shurikens. You are going to have to get in close to kill them.
These soldiers are slow to attack, as they usually only strike after bumping into or getting close to you. Their reach isn't that great either and usually you are going to be able to take them out before they can use their attack. Yamato is also capable of stunning these guys.
Room 3 has lots of the green troops in it. These troops can kill you easily, but they can be killed with just a single shuriken each. They do have a habit of just dropping down from above, so watch out.
They'll tend to drop down when you get near the single hostage in this room, so jump back when they happens to give yourself enough space. The exit to the room isn't that far away from the hostage.
Room 4 is where things get tougher, as it is full of the ninjas and Yamato is useless against them. There is only one hostage to save here, but there are many ninjas, and they all take two hits to kill.
The ninjas will warp in in groups of three or so, and their jumping spin attacks make them difficult to take out in the air. Try using the boxes dotted around this room to your advantage, and getting the ninjas all grouped together so you can hit them all at the same time. When you reach the exit, three red ninjas will appear at the same time.
The final room is the most challenging of them all. It has ninjas in it, but they are all colored gray. These gray ninjas take three hits to kill, making them the strongest enemies in the game, outside of the bosses. They attack in the same way as the red, blue and gold ninjas, but as they can take three hits, they can be far more deadly in groups.
There are a couple of times where you'll have to face large numbers of these enemies, and it can be hard to give yourself enough space to take them out whilst avoiding being hit yourself. Don't rush through this room, as you can bring on too many enemies to deal with -if this happens, you are almost going to have to use a ninjitsu technique to kill them all.
The final boss is Sauros, the leader of the Union Lizard organization. He will sit on his throne for the entire fight, and will send in his gray ninja underlings to deal with you. He will keep summoning ninjas, and you need to kill them as quickly as possible.
The reason you need to kill them quickly is so you have enough time to avoid Sauros' only attack -he will remove his head and send out several fireballs, which will drop from the top of the screen. Avoid these and then throw shuriken at Sauros' only weak spot -his neck. You can land a couple of hits before his head re-attaches.
When he's got his head back, Sauros will start summoning ninja again, but he will call forth more faster. As these are the gray ninja types, they are the strongest and the most difficult to kill. Keep hitting them at close-range to knock them back, and try and stop them from leaping around the screen. When Sauros' head breaks off, be ready to move out of the way of the dropping fireballs.
If you haven't used your ninjitsu attack already then use it here, as it will get two hits on the boss when his neck is exposed. Always try and take out the ninjas as quickly as you can, as they are a greater threat than Sauros himself. After taking 6 hits, Sauros will explode.
