The Dreamcast version was released in 2000. It was only released in Japan, and was part of Capcom's for Matching Service range of Dreamcast titles -the main draw with this line was that the games had online play. This version is seen as one of the best ports of the game, due to the huge amount of options it has. It's possible to unlock a dip switch menu, which lets you change many things in the game.

The dip switch menu is a bit of a nightmare to unlock (beat the game with all characters, including the old versions of characters), but it's well worth it. The menu lets you do things such as change the in-game text to English, turn the bonus games back on (which were not in the arcade version), and unlock a new version of Akuma who can use the shun goku satsu as a super combo. If you own this game, and want to know more about the dip switch menu, I highly recommend checking out this guide, it explains what everything does in it. This port also features a training mode, and did have online play -however my understanding is the online functionality of this game was closed down in 2003.

Whilst this is a great port, not many copies of it were made, and it tends to go for a lot of money on eBay these days -expect to pay over 200 dollars for it. Be sure to have something better than the useless Dreamcast pad before playing, though.
