The Super Nintendo version of Super Street Fighter II was released in 1994 and came on a 32 meg cartridge, which was the biggest Nintendo Street Fighter game ever at the time. All the characters, moves and stages are present, but some character speech is missing. Most notably, the announcer no longer says what round it is before the fight starts, or even the word "Fight!".
But I'm prepared to let that go, because this time round Capcom did a much better job with the music. I actually prefer some of the music in this port over the arcade version, especially Dee Jay's theme. The only problem I have with the music is that the it fades out at the end of each round, rather than continuing from round 1 into round 2, and then speeding up near the end of round 2 like the SEGA Genesis version does.
This version features a tournament mode, where up to 8 people can play in tournament style settings. Time challenge mode lets you try and fight and beat a character of your choice in the quickest time possible. Group battle mode let you pick a team of several fighters and fight another team. With the extra characters and game modes, I'd say this is the best Street Fighter game on the Super Nintendo.
This version was available to download on the Wii virtual console, but is no longer available. As of 2021 it is still available on the Wii U and New 3DS virtual consoles. More recently, it was one of the games on the Japanese version of the Super Nintendo Classic Mini.
