The PC Engine version of Champion Edition was released in 1993. Rather than use the CD format, Capcom decided to release this game on a HU-Card.

The colors really stand out in this port, and the character speech is very clear. However, there is no parallax scrolling, there are only 2 bonus games instead of 3, and the arcade intro is gone. The usual cut backs from the SNES and Genesis versions also apply here, such as a lot of animation from the arcade version missing. And when it was released, it was seen as being outdated -most people wanted to play a version of Hyper Fighting in their home, not Champion Edition.

Still, if you have a PC Engine, this is one of the best games available for it. This version was also available on the Wii Virtual Console, although as the Wii's online functionality has been ended, it's no longer possible to purchase.
