The Japanese title of this game means "Devil's Castle Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight" in English. The background colours are also different.

This is a lot to take in over something so small. When the game starts, the title card is different between versions. "Final Stage" is in capitals in the Japanese version and the kanji means "Chi no Rondo" -or "Reincarnation of Blood" in English. Chi no Rondo is the title of the PC Engine Castlevania game that this is the sequel too. However, the PC Engine version was never released outside Japan. So for whatever reason, when the English language version of Symphony of the Night rolled around, the title of the final stage was changed to "Bloodlines". Why it was changed to this is something I have no idea on. There is a game in the series called Castlevania Bloodlines but it has nothing to do with Symphony of the Night. If this wasn't enough, in the manual for the European version of Symphony of the Night, the final stage is referred to as "Vampires Kiss" -which was the the European title of this game for the Super Nintendo. Despite this being in the manual, in the game itself, the title is still "Bloodlines" in the European version.
