Different titles. I've seen some places list the W in the Japanese title stand for "World" but I can't find a source for this anywhere, so I'm not sure if it actually stands for anything. However Jake M let me know that in Japan, "W" is often used as a stand in for double, which would make a lot more sense than "World".

"Blocking" in Japan is known as "parrying" in the US. An extra word was added for the American version to make it more clear.

At the win quote screen, Gouki bleeds red blood in the Japanese version. In the American version, this was censored so Akuma bleeds green blood.

If Urien loses via time over in the Japanese version, he starts bleeding. The American version has him do the same animation, but all of the blood was removed.

Notes

In the Japanese version, once you press start at the title screen, you'll get to a menu which was removed from the American version. This menu lets you either go to the game select menu, or there is an option to go on the Internet and connect to the game's website.
