In Japan, this game had an online mode, where players could fight against each other over the internet. This mode was removed from the American version. The network mode offers the multiplayer option, as well as a link to the game's website.

As usual, Gouki in Japan became Akuma in America. But another name change can be seen during the first bonus game -the car is called "4WD" in Japan. This was changed to "SUV" in America.

During the second bonus game, you have to "Block" the ball in Japan. What's known as blocking in Japan was changed to parrying in America, hence the word change.

If Urien loses via time over, he will start to bleed in the Japanese version. In the American version, he has the same animation, but the blood was removed.

Notes

If Alex loses via being hit with a jab punch or short kick, he will shout "Jesus!" in the Japanese version, but this was changed to him just making his regular K.O. scream in America. In the previous two games, this wasn't censored.
