The game select menu has an Internet option in the Japanese version, going onto this takes you to the game's site. The Internet option was removed from the American version.

The name of the first game is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in Japan. For the American version, this was changed to JoJo's Venture.

Near the start the N'Doul bonus stage, there is a dead helicopter pilot in the background of the Japanese version. There is a quick animation of Geb reacting to the pilot's watch going off and slicing his hand off. This animation, along with the pilot's body, were removed from the American version.

Defeating an opponent has a message of "retired" coming up over the K.O. text in Japan. This wasn't translated for the American version.

The attack lists featured more moves per page in the Japanese version, due to the larger text, the American version has less.

Having a second player join in has several different messages in the Japanese version. If playing as one of the main six heroes, the Japanese text means "a new stand user!", if playing as a villain, it means "who are you!?"

For the American version, the text always reads "here comes a new challenger!" no matter what. The text color was also changed to white.

Any blood seen in the game is red in the Japanese version. This was changed to white for the American version, as the above example with Vanilla Ice shows.

Upon defeating Dio, he has a very explosive and bloody death in the Japanese version. For the American version, this animation was removed in favor of him just being sent flying off the screen.


Notes

Several character names were edited for the American version, to remove the references to music artists and bands. For example, the character Vanilla Ice in Japan was re-named to Iced for the American version.

In the American version, if you get a high score with Chaca, his portrait has him holding uncensored silver sword at the score ranking screen, this must have been missed by Capcom USA's staff again -they missed it in the arcade version too.
