In Japan, this game was called Daytona USA 2001. The American version removed the 2001. The European version retained the Japanese title, although some of the copyright text is different. |

The Japanese and American versions of this game had an online play mode called "Net Battle". This was famously removed from the European version, for reasons unknown. Some magazines which reviewed the European version stated the online mode was in it, so it must have been removed at the last minute. |

When this game was released in Japan, was of the main criticism was the twitchy handling of the cars. The Japanese version lacks a sensitivity option for the steering in the analog calibration, however one was added for the American and European versions. The European version also features a blue swirl on the controller, as the swirl color for the Dreamcast was changed there. |
