Dracula X Nocturne in the Moonlight (Saturn)

The Saturn version of Symphony of the Night will no doubt be a disapointment to many and it really is a poor port. The main complaints I have is that there is a lot more loading in this version, even just getting to the inventory screen takes a good three or so seconds more than the PS version and certain areas in the game contain extra loading screens not seen before. Another minor gripe is that you can't bring the map up without going to the inventory screen here which is a pain. Slowdown is also a problem as this version contains a lot of it and certain parts, such as the Beezlebub boss fight, run in slowmotion. And finally many graphical effects now look terrible, such as when Alucard transforms to myst.

Fans of the series will probably want this for the extras like two new (but not brilliant) areas to explore and some new music but I wouldn't suggest paying more than £30 for it. I beat the game and made a start with Richter.

Castlevania Chronicles
(PS1)

And even more Castlevania comes in the form of this pack featuring the X68000 Castlevania game and a slightly enhanced version of it featuring a pink haired Simon. These games play like the first ones in the series, and after playing so many Metroid style games this is just what I wanted to play. Simon may be a but slow to move around but most of the time he can whip fast enough to deal with enemies. I'm not that far into the X68000 version (about the third level I think) and am in the clock tower level of the enhanced version.
