Doom (GBA)
Bought for just £5 in Woolworth's GBA clearance sale, this version of the famous FPS is a bit of a mixed bag. The good parts are that it runs smoothly, has all the weapons, has all of the enemy animation frames (so you can get the bad guys to fight each other, take that 32X Doom) and has some new death match levels for link-up gaming. The bad parts are, however, that many levels have been cut (Doom veterans will breeze through it easily, and I managed to beat it in less than a week), several monster types are gone and there are other little edits. I wasn't satisfied with the final boss either because it isn't the same as the PC version and the last level just isn't as challenging in this version. Now that I've beaten it I'm in no rush to play it again and I just heard that the GBA version of the sequel was better so I might try and get that.
Hokuto no Ken (PS2)
Still playing this. I haven't had this much fun with a fighting game since King of Fighters XI last year. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys 2D fighting games.
Aliens Versus Predator 2 (PC)
Now that I have my own PC I thought about playing through some old games I haven't touched for a while since I have more time to mess around. This FPS isn't too bad but the scares only come in when playing as the marine, although it gets a bit repetitive constantly being the lone soldier fighting hordes of aliens and always having mission objectives involving you have to go straight to the aliens by yourself -some missions involving teamwork with fellow marines would have been good. The Alien campaign is way too easy mainly because the alien you play as is really powerful and can chew through humans easily and the Predators you fight aren't that smart either. It was good that you got to play through the alien's lifecycle (you actually start the campaign as a facehugger) but it's just too easy.
I started the Predator campaign but just stopped since I wasn't enjoying it at all. The controls are lousy and a bit too complicated to be easily accessible in the middle of a battle so yeah I just had to skip that one.
Capcom Generation 5 (Saturn)
A nice collection featuring the first three games in the Street Fighter II series. Champion Edition is my personal pick of the bunch as World Warrior has some balance issues whilst Turbo is just too fast for me to keep up with. I've just beaten each game with Ken (best fighting game character ever) to unlock everything the game has to offer bonus feature to wise.
