A prototype version of Burning Fight was dumped in 2011 by NeoTurfMasta. The prototype lets you play the first two levels of the game.

Final |
The prototype has a slightly different logo (the F in Fight is different), the SNK logo is a darker shade of blue and some of the letters in the copyright text are slightly different. The prototype also lacks the credit counters. |
Prototype |
Final |
The controls are slightly different. The B button does the middle attack in the prototype, the final game changed this to the C button. |
Prototype |
Final |
This means that the jump button is C in the prototype, whilst it's B in the final. |

The prototype's player select used character sprites as select icons, the final version features portraits. Ryu is on the left and Duke in the middle, the final version changed these two around (Ryu is still the default selected character though). The selection boxes are different, and the third character is incorrectly spelt as "Bully". This was corrected for the final game. One really minor thing is that Ryu's sprite has him wearing a wrist band. However, during actual gameplay, he isn't wearing one. He doesn't have it in the final version either. |

Final |
Selecting a character in the prototype will change their select icon from their sprite to a portrait, these look quite different from the final game. If you choose Ryu, his speech when you select him isn't translated in the prototype, whilst the final provides subtitles. |

Time to mention Bully. This character got a re-design between this prototype and the final game, he was given a new sprite and obviously his select screen portrait was completely changed. |

At the start of the first level, the motorbikes have different timings between the prototype and final version, using different animations as they go off the screen. Your character also appears on the screen slower in the prototype. The life and enemy life gauges have a blue rim around them in the prototype, this color was changed to gray for the final version. A bigger change is how much time you have -the prototype starts at 89 seconds, in the final, it starts at 60. Finally there are numerous differences with the colors. Some are very slight -the arcade machine is a different shade of yellow -whilst some other are a big more noticeable. The second building has some kind of text on it which was removed from the final. |

The enemy placement is completely different in the prototype, with certain sections featuring different thugs than who appear in the final version. The enemy colors and names are also different. |
Prototype |
Final |
Another example of enemy placement changes. Also, if you look closely, you can see that the table has different colors, and some of the colors and sprites for the plant in the top left corner are different. |
Prototype |
Final |
Item names were changed as well, sometimes for the better. For the example here, "SIGNBORD" became "SIGNBOARD". |
Prototype |
Final |
The truck that appears at the end of the first stage has a slightly different sprite in the prototype, and if you look to the right of it you can see that part of it is missing -there's a gap. This was fixed up for the final version. The truck has to be attacked, in the prototype, it was spelt as "TRACK". This was also fixed for the final version. The guy who throws molotov cocktails at you has different colors, plus he seems to be more difficult in the final version -he throws things faster and is more accurate. |

Final |
The first boss has a line of dialogue before you fight him and after he's defeated. These aren't subtitled in the prototype, but are in the final. |
Prototype |
Final |
The boss also doesn't have an after-image effect for when he rolls around in the prototype, whilst he does in the final. |
Prototype |
Final |
Stage 2 has the same slight color changes stage 1 has. The prototype features some lighter shades for things, such as the dress in the window. |
Prototype |
Final |
Also like stage 1, the enemy layout is completely different. |
Prototype |
Final |
This is a really minor thing, but if you enter a shop door, the entire screen will fade out in the prototype. For the final version, the inside of the shop, your character and stuff like the life bars don't fade out. |
Prototype |
Final |
In addition to the items having different names, sometimes they're given the wrong names in the prototype. This stall is called a "SLOT MACHINE" in the prototype, something which it clearly isn't. Changed to "WAGON" for the final game. |
Prototype |
Final |
This vending machine has a different sprite in the prototype, the words on it were changed to "JONATHAN" for the final. Next to this is a trash can which was removed from the final version. |
Prototype |
Final |
The mid-boss has a slightly different entrance in the prototype -whilst he still knocks down the fountain, he then walks off screen and then walks back on. For the final, he'll walk towards the screen without going off it. |
Prototype |
Final |
The boss had some changes made to his sprite in the final version. |
Prototype |
Final |
After the mid-boss, there is a part where you have to fight a single punk in the prototype. The music does change to a boss theme though so this punk was most likely just a placeholder. For the final version, there is another boss to beat in this section called Azusa, who is protected by two bodyguards. |
Prototype |
Final |
When you get to the train, part of the platform is different, missing a few white squares in the prototype. If you look at the top of the train, the sprite also looks different at the front. |
Prototype |
Final |
On top of the train, there are the usual changes (buildings in the background have different colors, enemy placement is different) along with a missing helicopter in the prototype. In the final, a helicopter will appear a couple time and fire at you before flying off. |
Prototype |
Final |
When you reach the end of the train in the prototype, you can actually see that you're at the end, unlike in the final version. As seen earlier, the prototype has a placeholder enemy to fight here, but the music does change to the boss music. The final has a real boss to fight called Marshall. |
Prototype |
Final |
Once you finish stage two, the prototype takes you to the ranking screen. The character portraits were changed for the final version. |
Prototype |
Final |
The continue screen has different looking chibi characters, plus the positions of Duke and Ryu were swapped around for the final game. The timer numbers were also made larger. |
Prototype |
Final |
The music sounds different in the prototype, every track was tweaked for the final version. Some tracks are completely different, such as one of the boss themes. Above are a few examples. |
Notes
There is only one demo in the prototype, and no character profiles. For the final version, there are several demos, along with profiles for all three playable characters.
