The strongest Russian wrestler returns. He's got all of his moves from the previous game, but also has a hyper combo that lets him turn into Mech Zangief! He also has a new level 3 hyper combo.

SPINNING PILE-DRIVER
(360°+P, air also)
You must be close to the opponent for this move to work. Zangief will pick them up, jump upwards and then come back down to the ground pile-driving the opponent.
BANISHING FLAT
(R, DR, D+P)
This move not only hits opponents (use at close range) but can also cancel out standard projectiles.
SPINNING CLOTHESLINE
(PPP, air also)
Spinning with one of his arms outstretched, Zangief attempts to smash the opponent down. Hold left or right to move him about as he does this move.
TURBO SPINNING CLOTHESLINE
(KKK, air also)
A faster version of the above move.
SIBERIAN BEAR CRUSHER
(HCF+K)
This move only works when Zangief is away from his opponent. When you do the motion Zangief will run forward and try to grab the opponent, and if he is successful, he slams them into the ground. Naturally though he's left wide open to attack when he makes his dash.
SIBERIAN SUPLEX
(HCF+K)
If you do the motion when standing right next to the opponent, Zangief will grab them, and slam them twice.
AERIAL RUSSIAN SLAM
(F, D, DF+K)
Zangief will leap forwards and if he catches the opponent, he will throw them to the floor.
HYPER COMBO
FINAL ATOMIC BUSTER
(360°+PP)
After grabbing the opponent, Zangief will do two suplexes and then two spinning pile-drivers in one continuous combo. When the move starts Zangief will run forward a little, so you don't have to be standing right next to the opponent for this move to work.
LEVEL 3 HYPER COMBO
ULTRA FINAL ATOMIC BUSTER

A more powerful version of the normal final atomic buster, with more slams.

Zangief's team hyper combo has him run forward, if he grabs the opponent he and his team mate will both pile-driver him or her.

MECH ZANGIEF

Transforms Zangief into his Mech Zangief form.
Mech Zangief cannot block, and is also slower to move around. But he's stronger, has a couple of different moves and also doesn't feel pain -he can walk through attacks made against him without showing any hurt animations. In the Playstation version, hold down select whilst highlighting Zangief and press any button to have him start the fight as Mech Zangief.
