Why is Anita in this?

For those who don't know, she was originally in Night Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge but even then she wasn't a playable character -she would appear in the background of any stage Donovan is fighting in. Many people believe that she might just have been a test character the developers forgot to take out. Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins states she is a test character. She can only be used in the Japanese versions of the game.

In single player mode, Anita has Thanos' picture at the VS screen. Her name is listed as Thanos at this screen too, although the text has the wrong palette as you can see to the left. She also has Thanos' art and win quotes at the victory screen, but the music played at this screen is Juggernaut's victory theme. You can beat the game with Anita, but she doesn't have an ending. Instead, the credits sequence is played twice.

Did Capcom really get Cathal J. Dodd to record just two new lines for Wolverine?

Cathal J Dodd was Wolverine's voice actor in the 1990's X-men cartoon. He also voiced the character in X-Men: Children of the Atom. In Marvel Super Heroes, Wolverine has the same voice clips as before but he also has two new ones: "Let's go, bub!" for his intro animation and "Rookie" for one of his win poses.

Whilst Cathal did record these extra lines of dialogue, he doesn't just voice Wolverine in this game. He also voices freedom loving Captain America. The credits confirm this.

Then what about Catherine Disher?

Catherine Disher voiced Psylocke in X-Men: Children of the Atom. She voices her in this game too using the voice clips from the previous game, but she also has three new ones: "maelstrom" and "kochou gakure" for two of her new moves, and "No sweat!" for one of her win poses. The credits sequence for the game reveals that Catherine Disher voiced Psylocke, so it really seems that Capcom managed to get her to record just three new pieces of dialogue.

Any other voice actor trivia?

Magneto had all of his dialogue re-recorded with a new voice actor, from what I can tell. I don't know who voiced him in Children of the Atom, but in this game he's voiced by Lorne Kennedy, who knows how to say supreme correctly. Lorne also provided the voice for the announcer and Doctor Doom.

Juggernaut seems to have the same voice as in the previous game, but his voice actor is now actually credited: Rick Bennet. Rick also voiced Juggernaut in the 1990's X-Men cartoon. Christopher Britton, who voices Iron Man in this game, voiced Mr. Sinister in the X-Men cartoon.

Why are Magneto and Juggernaut in this? They weren't even The Infinity Gauntlet!

Fan demand. People were desperate to play as them after they were unplayable in the arcade version of Children of the Atom. Also, when I think of the more popular Marvel characters, I tend to think of Magneto... and not Shuma-Gorath...

Speaking of which, who the hell is Shuma-Gorath? And Blackheart over Mephisto?!

Shuma-Gorath is a very obscure Marvel villain, who is basically Dr. Strange's equal in terms of power, but he comes from a different dimension. At first I had no idea why Capcom chose this thing over the likes of Venom, Sabretooth, Doc Octopus or just about any other Marvel villain, but then Youtube comments showed me the true light once again:

According to this article, even some of the Marvel staff weren't sure who Shuma-Gorath was when the Capcom staff asked if they could include him in the game.

As for Blackheart, I have no idea. He wasn't in The Infinity Gauntlet, whilst his father Mephisto was.

Who is Adam Warlock?

This character appears in Juggernaut's ending. Whilst his main role in the Marvel universe was the leader of the Infinity Watch, Adam gets together a group of super heroes to battle Thanos in The Infinity Gauntlet comics. After the battle is over, Adam takes possession of the gauntlet and all of the infinity gems, leading onto the sequel comic series: Infinity War.

What's with the win quotes when a character beats themselves?

If you have a same character fight (such as Spider-Man Vs. Spider-Man), there is an exclusive win quote for that situation. Hulk has the best one.

Are there exclusive win quotes for when you win with little life?

Every character has two win quotes for if they win with little life remaining in their vitality gauge (it will be flashing red).

What about when you win with a perfect?

Finally, if you beat your opponent with a perfect in the winning round, every character has two exclusive win quotes for that, too.

Why does Captain America's costume sometimes get ripped open when he's beaten?

If you defeat Captain America with a super move, the top half of his costume rips open. He's the only character in this game to have this damaged clothing feature.

I just beat the game with Thanos but his ending had Magneto's text?!

Sadly there is a glitch. Thanos actually has two different endings but due to a glitch, both of them play and the text for them is from Magneto's ending. This also happens in the Japanese version. It isn't all bad news though, as for the Saturn and Playstation versions, the glitch was corrected and the Thanos' endings work properly.

Who is the female who appears in one of Thanos' win poses?

Her name is Terraxia. In the comics, Lady Death repeatedly ignores Thanos, and he gets irritated with her. To try and make her jealous, he uses the infinity gauntlet to create Terraxia, who is practically a female version of himself who desires nobody but him. She later takes part in the battle between the heroes and Thanos, with her main achievements being decapitating Iron Man and killing Spider-Man. She herself is eventually killed when she gets flung out into space.
