The Playstation version of Children of the Atom was released in 1998 -which meant it was actually released after the Playstation version of Marvel Super Heroes, the sequel to this game. It was also only released in America and Europe -there was no Japanese release of the Playstation version.

This version has all of the characters, moves and stages. But whilst the graphics look the part, a lot of animation has been cut, and the whole thing is quite choppy because of this. Fighting Sentinel in this version is a nightmare, as the game becomes practically a slide-show. Many background details were simplified, for example, the guys running around the buildings on Colossus' stage are missing in this version.

One major advantage of this version, however, is that it has a code that lets you use Juggernaut and Magneto in the 2 player versus mode -and the code is really easy to use, too. This version lets you use the both bosses without reverting to hacking the game via a cheat device, and naturally being able to use them and their ridiculously over-powered moves is quite a joy, even if it is only in the 2 player mode.
