Final Fight had been a big hit for Capcom and the company went on to make several other scrolling beat 'em ups, one of their best being Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, which was released in 1993. Based on the comic book, it features a world where the dinosaurs have returned, a mad scientist trying to create creatures and four heroes going out to stop him.
One of my favourite scrolling beat 'em ups, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs has everything you could want from the genre -lots of moves, a wide variety of enemy types, fast paced action, great graphics and a really good musical score. Up to three players can play the game at the same time and along with the combos, special moves and team attacks there are also lots of different weapons to take out the bad guys with, with guns being an important part of the gameplay.
The only gripe I have with this game is that it has never been ported to home consoles. For 20 years now, this game has remained an arcade exclusive which is a tragedy. It would be fantastic if Capcom could release it as a downloadable title for the current generation consoles, but licensing issues are most likely the reason why this game has had to stay in the arcades.
