Inside the Thunder Arrow, Deszaras explains to his troops that to power up the Destron's war capabilities, they will need a large amount of energy. To do this, he wants them to head out to a mine and take large amounts of "beta uranium". Leozack is put in charge of this mission.
One of the mine's workers, Frank, says goodbye to his son, Sam, and his wife as he heads towards his place of work. It's Sam's birthday today and Frank promises his son that he'll try to get home early today and bring him back a nice big present. Frank gets to work but suddenly, another worker bursts into the room to tell him that the Destrons are attacking!
Leozack orders the Dinoforce to go and start taking the beta uranium from the storehouses. This is seen by Frank, who sends out a distress signal to the Cybertrons. The Cybertrons pick it up and find out that whilst the majority of workers managed to escape, around one hundred of them have been captured by the Destrons and are still in the mine.
Wingwaver doesn't want the Destrons to get a shard of the beta uranium and suggests that they set out immediately. Blacker tells the kid that it isn't so simple, as the Destrons have hostages. Star Saber says protecting lives is their top priority, but getting into the mine could be difficult. Laster says it is no problem, as he can make a sonic drill. Wingwaver decides to go with them, even though Blacker warns he could lose his life on this mission. Wingwaver, Laster and Braver head out, and are told that once they break through into the mine, the other Cybertrons will start their attack.
The Cybertrons arrive outside a mountain which leads to the section where the hostages are. They blow a hole though the side of it with the sonic drill. As they enter into the mine, the worker hostages are beginning to have difficulties breathing as the air ventilation system was destroyed by the Destrons.
Back at the Shuttle Base, Machtackle and Dashtacker are seeing the progress the other Cybertrons are making, but Blacker then calls out to them. He refers to them as kids and says that they should get Braver and Laster's show of professional skill into their heads. Machtackle thinks that their Lieutenant Commander is always treating them like children.
In the mine, Wingwaver is also moaning about how Blacker keeps ridiculing him and the Multiforce. Laster says he doesn't understand Blacker's actions, as there are times where his battle instincts surpass those of the Supreme Commander. Meanwhile Braver blasts through part of another wall, letting them progress.
Outside, the Dinoforce carry out lots of the beta uranium, although Kakuryuu accidentally drops some. Gouryuu tells him to stop being stupid, as they need to keep this stuff in good condition so they can extract energy out of it later. Inside the mine, the workers are still suffering and want to go back to the surface, but Leozack refuses their request and tells Drillhorn to keep an eye on them.
Meanwhile the Cybertrons continue to make progress and are picked up on radar by Frank. However, the Cybertrons reach an area where the drill won't work, even when all three of them try putting their energy into it. They've reached some solid bedrock and can't break through. Frank sees that they're stuck and decides to go down there with some high powered explosives so they can blast it out of the way.
He is soon down in the mine, where he sees and uses a mine cart to get to the Cybertrons faster. Unfortunately, Leozack is wandering around the mine and sees the cart, and wonders why an unmanned cart is moving around the mine for no reason. He goes to have a closer look and is rewarded by Frank smashing him between the eyes with a mallet.
Leozack tries to shoot the cart off the track, but he misses and Frank gets away. Star Saber, Dashtacker, Machtackle and Blacker are all waiting outside and hear gunshot noises coming from the mine, but Star Saber tells them not to move in yet as they need to give them more time and put faith in them. Meanwhile Frank meets up with the Autobots and tells them who he is and that they need to hurry up before all of the hostages die.
He says he will get to the opposite side of the bedrock and plant some explosives. He heads off to do this, and moments later, the explosives go off. The Cybertrons use the sonic drill at the same time and the bedrock is destroyed.
This lets the Cybertrons move on again and they soon come across Drillhorn. Laster and Braver defeat him.
This lets Wingwaver take all of the hostages outside, and he contacts the Shuttle Base. Galaxy Shuttle is sent in to pick the hostages up and move them to safety, whilst Star Saber finds out from Frank that there are still some Destrons on the surface, who are stealing the uranium. Star Saber and Blacker head up to sort them out.
Blacker tells Wingwaver he did a good job, although Wingwaver seems more pleased that Blacker called him by his actual name for once. Outside, Leozack tells the Dinoforce that they are to defend the beta uranium until the Thunder Arrow arrives to collect it, but Gouryuu reminds him that he is the team's leader, so he gets to state the orders. He leads his troops into battle, but then realises that they aren't even following him, and Kakuryuu is even waving cheerily.
"Idiots!! What do you think you're doing?!"
Blacker appears and the Dinoforce try and fight him. Kakuryuu throws an axe at him, but he deflects it with his sword and it heads back the way it came, boomerang style, Kakuryuu wisely ducks out of the way, but Gouryuu doesn't, and gets hit in the back of the head by it.
"Where am I? Who am I?"
"You're the Captain!"
"This is no time to be playing around!"
"I'm sorry!"
Leozack thinks the Dinoforce are pitiful, so he transforms and attacks. The Dinoforce finally get it right, as they team up to overpower Blacker. Thankfully Star Saber arrives on the V-Star.
He shoots down Leozack and then goes for the Dinoforce, but they unite and transform into Dinoking. Star Saber says that it is unforgivable for the Destrons to put so many innocent lives in danger just for their own greed, and attacks the Destron gestalt.
Dinoking asks if Star Saber can take his Dino Power, and uses a projectile attack with his weapon that traps Star Saber and starts to drain him of his energy. Star Saber eventually breaks free by slicing apart the energy draining rings.
He then strikes back with his own "Blade of Wrath" which draws power from the heavens. Several energy bolts pierce Dinoking, making him fall apart. The Destrons retreat, and the Cybertrons have won.
The defeated Destrons return to the Thunder Arrow, and Deszaras is not happy. He cannot believe that they have failed him yet again.
Later on, the humans are thanking the Cybertrons, but Star Saber tells Sam that he should be thanking him as his father is a very brave man. The Cybertrons then head back home on Galaxy Shuttle. Star Saber tells them that they did not win this battle with their power, but with the help of the human miners. Blacker tells the kids to make sure they take what the Supreme Commander just said to heart.
