This script isn't dated, but contains an absolute ton of differences. The script can be read at the Sunbow and Marvel Productions Script/Storyboard Archive.

ACT 1

The script doesn't state to open the episode with a recap of events from part one.

This dialogue is in the script for part two, but ended up being used at the end of part one.

The script calls for Brawn's blow torch to produce a blue flame, but the animation has it look more like a laser... although the actual "blow torch" itself is blue, so maybe the animators mixed things up here.

The animation shows Brawn mouthing the "Let's take off!" part of this line, but it's Huffer who's saying it. The script proves Huffer was the one meant to be saying it.

The script states Sparkplug and Spike are meant to be on Prime at this point, but the animation still has them in the water.

We're Autobots -we're from Cybertron, a planet far from Earth.

SPIKE
Another planet! That's awesome!

SCRIPT
EPISODE DIALOGUE
PRIME
Hmm, maybe you can help us.

The above scripted scene isn't present in the finished episode. It just cuts straight back to the Autobot HQ without showing the Autobots getting back there.

The script calls for the camera to pan down here, but in the episode itself, it pans up.

The script doesn't have the short sequence of Spike placing Soundwave down. It also calls for Spike to be seated next to Trailbreaker at Teletraan I, but the animation shows them both standing. That's because...

There was supposed to be some extra dialogue between the two, where Trailbreaker introduces Spike to Teletraan I. Almost all of this got cut from the episode, instead, Spike's first line to Trailbreaker is "Tell me more about Cybertron", although a "Hey" was added to the start of the line.

HOUND'S VOICE
Hop in, Spike. I'm gonna take you for the ride of your life.

The script has a page with an alternate version of the above scene, where Mirage isn't present. Seems the idea to have him show off his invisibility early was something added later.

When Soundwave and Ravage use Teletraan I, the script calls for the computer to talk about the Earth's resources in addition to showing them. Unfortunately, the verbal stuff isn't present in the episode -so if you're wondering why Soundwave transforms to his tape deck mode and starts recording despite not having anything to record audio wise, this is why.

SCRIPT
EPISODE DIALOGUE
HOUND'S VOICE
Sure if pretty out here, Spike. Earth must be a nice place to live.

The above is some extra dialogue between Hound and Spike which was cut from the episode.

Whilst the script calls for Spike to pull an alarm lever, the animation shows him jump up and hit a button.

Soundwave was scripted to actually hit Spike! This got cut from the episode, which was probably for the best.

The script calls for several Autobots to be present here, but only Prime is seen here in the episode. His line was slightly altered to "A Decepticon! Get him!".

SCRIPT
EPISODE DIALOGUE
SOUNDWAVE
...Ravage!

This short battle between Soundwave and the Autobots was cut from the episode. Instead, Soundwave just runs off, whilst Brawn and Bumblebee briefly catch Ravage -who then escapes from them and heads up into the rocks.

Prime had a line to say whilst leading the chase after Ravage, but it was cut from the episode.

TELETRAAN
...Sherman Dam is the largest in the Western hemisphere.

This shot called for Megatron to be sitting in his rock throne (something that was scripted to appear in part one, but didn't), but the animation shows it to not to be built from rock. Skywarp was also supposed to be present, but he's absent (he does show up a few shots later though). The script also did not call for Starscream to be hunched over for no apparent reason.

The script calls for Starscream to stop Soundwave's playback, but the animation doesn't show this.

But that's not enough electrical power to make the energon cubes.

SCRIPT
EPISODE DIALOGUE
MEGATRON
Your knowledge is only overshadowed by your stupidity, Starscream.

We are going to create a tidal wave. One that will send enough power surging through that dam, to make all the energon cubes we need.

Turns out Soundwave did care about Ravage -the script had him ask Megatron about contemplating a rescue plan for him! This got cut from the episode, the only part to survive was Megatron's "we attack the dam" line.

Soundwave was scripted to say this line before sending out Rumble, but in the episode he says it after dispatching him.

This guy was supposed to come in from outside, but the animation has him already inside.

This scene was changed for the episode. None of the above dialogue is heard and Jazz isn't seen fixing anything.

SCRIPT

SPIKE
There's some sort of trouble at Sherman Dam... yeah, a tidal wave! The power output's ten times normal!

This scripted scene of the Autobots leaving their base was cut from the episode.

The script states the Decepticons were to "overpower" a few workers, but doesn't state what they would do to them... in the episode they smash into the dam but don't actually harm anyone. Given that this was taken out and Soundwave's attack on Spike (see above) was removed, part of me thinks someone at Hasbro stepped in and toned down the Decepticons doing anything violent to humans... maybe they thought the idea of kids throwing their Decepticon toys at their parents wasn't something they wanted.

I probably should have mentioned this in the previous part, but it's more prominent here: the script doesn't refer to Megatron's weapon as a cannon, but as a gun -as in a gun he holds in his hand. His toy did actually come with a separate gun accessory but the animation never shows him with a gun, he always uses his cannon.

Whilst Prime's line was kept in the episode, the animation shows the Autobots driving rather than flying.

ACT 2

MEGATRON
Perfect! The electrical output power is at its peak -exactly where I want it. Starscream: activate the null ray!

The null ray was supposed to be something Starscream would pop out from his arm. But the animation just has him fire it from his regular arm blasters.

This part of the scene was cut from the episode.

This was also cut, and changed to simply show Reflector walk up to the generators and attach cubes to them, which are quickly filled up.

SCRIPT
EPISODE DIALOGUE
SPIKE
Looks like the heart of the tidal wave right here.

The script calls for Wheeljack and Bumblebee here, but in the finished episode, Ironhide is used instead of Wheeljack. The script also states that Wheeljack would transform into a van! Given that in the Cybertron scenes in part one he transformed into a Cybertronic van, this possibly hints that at one point Ironhide was originally called Wheeljack, but then they had their names switched.

Most of the above was cut from the episode -there is a shot of the farmhouse with the people thanking the Autobots, but everything before this was cut. And sadly so was the van's "toots".

This scripted scene, where Ironhide and Trailbreaker seal up the dam, was cut. It also puts a hole in my "Wheeljack and Ironhide had their names switched" theory, as Ironhide was to use "photoglue" -possibly an early name for his liquid nitrogen? He's seen several times throughout the series using this to patch various things up.

Perhaps Wheeljack's toy was at one point different, and would have transformed into a van rather than a sports car. But of course, the writer simply might have gotten it wrong regarding what he was supposed to transform into.

MEGATRON
Gather the energon cubes! Return to base!

The script suggests the use of additional weapons, namely bolas and boomerangs, neither of which made it into the finished animation. The script states the boomerangs can "chop off steel limbs" so they were probably not used due to them being too violent.

This sequence ended up being different. Prowl was removed from it, and whilst the script suggests using "extra" Decepticons, the animation shows Thundercracker and Skywarp. The Autobots were supposed to chase the Decepticons, with several shots showing them moving up and down stairways and catwalks. The episode shows them on single catwalk only. The script also states to have Mirage club the Decepticons with his fists, but the animation completely changed this to him jumping high into the air and drop kicking them.

Most of the above was cut from the episode. The animation simply has Megatron already on the platform which leads outside, and Prime lands on it before Megatron knocks him off. Megatron's "It's a long way down, Prime" line was cut, and he doesn't start stomping on Prime's fingers until after they say their lines.

The script says to show Prime climbing back up after Starscream uses his catapult, but this is never shown on-screen.

In the episode, Megatron has an additional line here -he says "follow me!" as the Decepticons pick up the energon cubes. This was not in the script and is a bit of an odd thing for him to say as seconds before this Prime tackles him out of the dam. Well, that's because the line was inserted here by mistake... more on that below.

More Decepticon on human violence! The script called for Rumble to punch Spike repeatedly, but in the episode, he is seen grabbing him, but then the shot cuts to Prime and Megatron up on the dam.

The script notes that Megatron would be using a "battle-axe" here, but in the episode, it's Prime who has the axe.

More Decepticon on human violence! This was not shown in the episode, however, if you were ever wondering why Spike feels the back of his head when he gets up a little later on, this was why.

And here's where Megatron's "follow me!" line should have been -he was supposed to say it as the Decepticons leave the dam, but in the episode it was mistakenly heard earlier.

ACT 3

The script mentions that Prime was to pull himself out of the water, but the animation never shows this.

SCRIPT
EPISODE DIALOGUE
PRIME
We must have courage, Huffer. We can't ignore the danger... we must conquer it!

These scenes were in the episode, but altered a little. The gas field doesn't show the "flame", rather, a couple of Decepticons shove one pipe into another and that's all it takes to get some energon cubes filled. The "park-like backdrop" is seen, but the steam geyser stuff isn't.

This line was cut.

MEGATRON'S VOICE
...despite your stupidity, Starscream, our mission will succeed. First we strike the Burma crystal mines, and then we'll locate the rocket fuel we need.

It's the return of the Spitfire Decepticons! Right after Megatron and the other Decepticons head off to the mines, this scene was scripted, but cut from the episode. The two Decepticons in question, when seen a little later on, are re-colors of Starscream.

This line was something Trailbreaker would reply to Sparkplug, after the latter says how much he enjoys being a spy. It was cut from the episode.

This was cut as well.

The script called for Trailbreaker to deploy shields around himself, but the animation never shows this.

The script also had Sideswipe and Sunstreaker use flamethrowers, but the finished episode only has Sunstreaker fire, and he uses a laser. The script also called for Sunstreaker's right side to be scorched, but this isn't shown. This is why Sideswipe later makes a comment telling Sunstreaker to not make any left turns.

This scene was cut from the episode. The only part left in it is Bumblebee's line of "let's go inside".

Sparkplug's line here was cut.

SCRIPT

SKYWARP
Yeah, heh heh, I know what you mean, Thundercracker.

Whilst the script states to have Bumblebee place the bomb on the ground, the animation has him plant it on a wall.

Both Skywarp and Bumblebee's lines here were cut.

The fight here plays out differently in the episode. First of all, Skywarp doesn't grab Sparkplug -Thundercracker hits him instead -a rare case of some actual real Decepticon on human violence that wasn't originally scripted. But then then script says it was to show Sparkplug's head "cracking the rock"! Whilst Sparkplug does get flung into a wall, the rock cracking bit thankfully didn't make it into the episode. The script also states to show Skywarp and Thundercracker beating up Bumblebee, but this isn't seen in the episode.

This line can be heard in the episode, but it's Wheeljack who says it instead of Prowl.

This sequence didn't make it into the episode.
