By the time the Street Fighter cartoon started to air, there had already been several Street Fighter games released on various formats. The first season of the cartoon, however, mainly uses characters from Street Fighter II. Pictured above are Super Street Fighter II and Super Street Fighter II Turbo, released in 1993 and 1994 respectively. The various Street Fighter II games were some of the most popular fighting games ever and Super Street Fighter II Turbo is considered by most to be the greatest version of them all. Every playable character from Super Street Fighter II Turbo is featured in the series at some point.

In the second season of the cartoon, characters from the Street Fighter Alpha games were occasionally used. Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter Alpha 2, pictured above, featured new characters, new graphics, new moves and more. Characters like Rose and Sakura made their debuts in these games. There have been many games released over the years and the series is still going strong today thanks to Street Fighter V.
