SINGLE PLAYER CHALLENGES
This is the shortest challenge category, with just 13 challenges to complete. If you want to unlock the "stay frosty" achievement quickly, then you'll want to complete this category first.
Play any mission and complete it. This can be done in co-op, and if you join a game that happens to be near the end of a mission, you'll still get credit for this challenge when you beat it. The difficulty level doesn't matter either.
"Gib" basically means destroying an enemy so badly they explode. So get the pulse rifle and make sure it is equipped with the grenade launcher attachment, then run towards some aliens. Shoot them a little to lower their health, then fire a grenade to blow them up. Alternatively, another easy way to get this is in the "No hope in Hadley's" mission, as around halfway through it you can collect a smart gun with plenty of ammo -this gun will make aliens explode when they are killed.
This one is a little trickier than is sounds, as melee attacks in the game don't do that much damage, and using them against either aliens or humans can be dangerous. You'll probably have an easier time killing aliens with them -just shoot an alien a few times with the pulse rifle, then run up to it and mash the melee attack button. The tactical shotgun's arc rounds are useful here as you can stun an enemy before hitting it a few times.
4) NICE GROUPING This one seemed to glitch on me -I swear I killed 2 enemies with 2 shots, but the challenge still unlocked. And from what I've heard, a lot of other people have had it glitch on them also. Right at the start of the second mission, two guys will run through a door. I got this one here. Try to shoot them as soon as they run in, as they're fairly close to each other.
Tactical weapons are things like the grenades or claymores. You can easily take out several enemies with one grenade, so killing six enemies shouldn't be that difficult.
Equip the tactical shotgun with the arc rounds and then go to work. Use the gun's alternate fire to stun, then just use normal fire to finish off the enemy.
The facehuggers are the small spider-like aliens which try to grab onto your face. You can find them in "Battle for the Sulaco" and "Derelict Reclaimed". If you see an alien egg opening, stand back as the facehugger will leap out of it. Quickly shoot it (they die easily) and repeat four more times.
This one requires you to blow off the legs or arms of aliens, so aim for those and use a powerful close range weapon such as any of the shotguns.
This one is difficult. I managed to get it in "Hope in Hadley's", at the part where you and a team of marines have to hold out in the vehicle bay for a few minutes. Lots of aliens come here, but your marine buddies will constantly shooting and weakening the aliens, making them easier to pick off with a melee attack. If you're struggling, another way to do this one is to load up the first mission and kill the first lone alien you encounter with a melee attack. Then immediately load checkpoint and repeat this 9 more times -the challenge count doesn't reset so you can get it fairly easily there. Just have the tactical shotgun's arc rounds ready as the first alien you find is a vicious one.
10) SUPERIOR FIREPOWER Do you think they missed a 0 off the end of that number? The RPG doesn't appear that often in the campaign, but you can get the smart gun in the "No Hope in Hadley's" mission.
Use tactical weapons like grenades or claymores, or try out the grenade launcher attachments you can get for several guns, such as the pulse rifle. The explosives do a good amount of damage so anything that is hit by them should die instantly.
Do what it says in single player mode, otherwise you can get this in online co-op -and if you happen to join a game which is near the end of a mission, you'll still received credit for this challenge. If you do intend to do it in single player, "Home" is a very short and fairly easy mission.
Same as the above, just with the difficulty set up to the highest level. The advice for "Battle Hardened" also applies here. |
