At some point in 1987, a company based in New Jersey called Angel Comics was around, and advertised a new comic series they were going to be bringing to America over from Japan: Fist of the North Star. The extremely limited amount of information available reveals that Angel Comics planned to release a translated version of the manga in a bi-weekly format, with the first issue due to ship on November 3rd 1987, for the price of $1.50. This didn't happen, and the Angel Comics version of Fist of the North Star was never released. What happened to this company (other than it disappearing) is unclear, and the only reason people even know of it is most likely due to the fact that RWG of Hokuto no Fogie kept the advertising brochure. (All of the images on this page come from his blog, so thank him.) A newsletter published by Viz mentioned Angel Comics, and stated that that company didn't have the rights to the series, they did. (Viz would go on to publish a limited amount of Fist of the North Star comics and books.)
