A late prototype of the game can be found pretty easily on the net. The main differences are simply with the text in the cutscenes and endings, which were cleaned up slightly for the final release. One thing screenshots cannot show is how much more difficult the prototype is -enemies are far more aggressive, and will knock you down quickly. The final made things easier. The other major different is that the prototype has even more slowdown than the final, especially in the single player mode.

Prototype
Final
The prototype copyright screen has the "licensed by Nintendo" at the top, plus there are spaces between each line. For the final the Nintendo licence was moved to the bottom, and the spaces removed.

Prototype
Final
To access the debug mode in the prototype, simply hold select and then press start at the Capcom logo. The ver. date is slightly earlier in this prototype than it is in the American final.

Prototype
Final
The intro in the prototype is a little different. It is missing a "the" in the first paragraph, which the final has. The bigger difference is the text in the prototype moves at a much slower speed than in the final. "Explosive Situation", the track that plays during this part, ends well before all of the text has appeared in the prototype, unlike the final.

Prototype
Final
Another minor text change in the intro.

Prototype
Final
And another one, although I don't think this one was necessary. This change is applied nearly every time the word "city" appears in the game, such as in the endings.

Prototype
Final
Dean's profile has a slightly different bio in the prototype.

Prototype
Final
The exact same location in both the prototype and final versions -the enemy colors are the only things different. All the enemy characters (excluding the bosses) have different colors.

Prototype
Final
Another example of different enemy colors.

Prototype
Final
Some bad language from Dean in the prototype, which was removed for the final.

Prototype
Final
In the prototype, the cutscene shown after defeating Drake has a couple of extra words in the last paragraph. They were removed for the final.

Prototype
Final
A small difference in Haggar & Dean's first endings.

Prototype
Final
And another one.

Prototype
Final
A small typo in the prototype which was fixed for the final.

Prototype
Final
This text in one of Guy's ending was changed for the final.

Prototype
Final
Another different line in one of Guy's endings.

Prototype
Final
The prototype has an unnecessary apostrophe in one of Lucia's endings. It was removed from the final.

OTHER DIFFERENCES

-If you use the stage select, "Street Fighters" will keep playing in the prototype. This was changed so it cuts out in the final.

-On the title screen and debug menu, when you cycle through the options no sound is played in the prototype, but is in the final version.
