Move right to encounter the most deadly enemy in this part of the level: flames. They'll shoot up out of the floor, and there's a lot of fire to get through. If you get hit, you will have a few seconds of invincibility when you get back up. When you get far enough to the right, the screen will lock, and you'll have to fight the Mad Gears whilst avoiding the flames. The flames will constantly be shooting up where you are standing every few seconds, so you'll need to be on the move a lot to avoid them. The Mad Gears can be hurt by the flames, so try throwing them around. When they get up and head towards you, they'll usually get hit by the flames.

Once you can move on, break open the barrels to reveal some health items. There are more barrels after these, but be careful, as some Mad Gears will kick them over. Use a special attack or a jumping attack to destroy them without them hurting you.

When you move on, a Bill Bull and G. Oriber will appear, and charge. Take them out, and then get ready to take on a whole army of Mad Gears.

Once you reach the elevator door, many Mad Gears will appear from the left. Several Holly Woods will also walk on, who will throw molotov cocktails. Once the Mad Gears have been defeated, the doors will open up, and you'll walk onto the elevator.

The elevator will start moving up, and some Mad Gears will drop down onto it. Defeat them, but pay attention to the ladder in the background. Rolento, one of the Mad Gear bosses, will appear on it, and occasionally will throw some grenades out. These are highly damaging and will explode after a few seconds. They can hurt the Mad Gears as well, so use them to your advantage.

Try and clear out the Mad Gears as quickly as possible, because once the elevator reaches the top, Rolento will jump down, and start fighting you. Rolento is very fast, and has two main moves. He will try to strike you with his staff, or he will throw you.

He will sometimes also jump off the wall to try and jump kick, similar to what Guy can do. Once he's taken enough hits, he'll start throwing grenades at you. At this point, try using the pipe or sword here, as using them makes it easier to hit Rolento. He'll speed up here, and it makes him very difficult to grab.

He will also frequently jump up onto the girders, then jump back off, throwing grenades out everywhere. Once he's been defeated, he'll blow himself up.
